Hi, I am looking for all Elkingtons in New Zealand, there are quite a few, as I would like to make contact with them. Those of you on the list I would be very pleased to hear from you. Arthur Elkington came to New Zealand with the British Army. In 1865 he met a Maori girl, called Marara Horomona and they were married in Wellington in 1865. This precluded Arthur from serving further in the British Army and he was moved to serve in the Commissary General's Department as a Deputy. Marara and Arthur had two children; John Ratapu Arthur and Terewai Grace born in 1866 and 1867 respectively. I do have two lovely portraits of Terewai Grace and Wetekia which I could forward to you. I am now looking for their descendants. Whilst looking on the internet I found this website run by _http://turiandnuielkington.com/_ (http://turiandnuielkington.com/) But they do not give an email contact just an Admin address but they have not replied.. I wondered if any one could put me in touch with them or any Elkingtons in New Zealand. The story of Arthur's arrival in New Zealand can be found at _http://www.elkingtonfamily.com/arthurelkingtonnewzealand.htm_ (http://www.elkingtonfamily.com/arthurelkingtonnewzealand.htm) I do hope someone will reply. Thanking you in advance. Regards, JUDY ELKINGTON www.elkingtonfamily.com
