If you would be kind enought to send me your personal E-mail I would be happy to send you several generation records which I think will help you. 3. HI Jan, Your John; 1772, is an uncle of our line, and his older brother James is my 5x Great Grandfather. I have histories collected by John 1772, and one letter penned by him to our GGG grandfather. His son Henry was a partner in E & Co, and a sculptor and artist / metalurgist responsible for many stattues seen today in the streets of London. Your John's father is Joseph "the Drainer" who delivered a quantum leap in the science of drainage to English agriculture, and thereby a quantum leap to the fortunes of this branch of the family, from yeoman farmers to middle class artisans, professionals, and business people. We live on the west coast, near Victoria. You can get me directly at relks@shaw.ca. I suspect that Judy may have just picked the wrong character because the total file she has built on the family, guided by the records contributed from all branches, and then confirmed with official records, should contain at least some of the siblings you list. best regards, JR Elkington -----Original Message----- From: elkington-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:elkington-bounces@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of gc-gateway@rootsweb.com Sent: December 4, 2010 8:50 AM To: ELKINGTON-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ELKINGTON] Completed works of Warwickshire Elkingtons [England] This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Anna Sophia Elkington is 2X great grandmother. Next is Amy Elizabeth Orford who married George Walker Wesley Dawson. Then Hereward Francis, Hereward Graham and finally my husband James Graham Dawson. Dr Francis' parents on IGI are listed as John Elkington b abt 1774 and Mary Russell born abt 1778. John is listed as having father Joseph b abt 1739 and mother Sarah b abt 1743. I have found Sarah 1790 (must be a transcribing error ... probably 1797 parents married 1796), Mary 1798, John, 1799, John 1801, Joseph 1803, Charlotte 1805, Ester 1806, George 1808, Charles 1809, Henry 1810, and Charles James Checkley 1813. These children are all listed together as children of father John 1772 and mother Mary Russell 1775. In a couple of cases John's father Joseph 1739 and mother Sarah Webb 1738. Sometimes parents are listed as simply John and Mary. My dilemma: Francis Russell Elkington is NEVER listed as part of the family. His birth year fits nicely though. Every family tree I check has Francis as part of this family but I do know we all copy from one another. Since Francis married in 1822, census records of his parents and siblings are of no use. I live in Canada so I rely on ancestry.com and IGI records. I am hoping you can help me prove Francis fits into this family before I repost my tree. Thanks!!!!! Jan. Most dates go up to the C20 century and as many moved to London those are included. They have been sent to the Warwickshire Record Office who have accepted them. I will undertake look ups for anyone needing to know anything, but please send a date of birth in order that I may find them. There are a few names where the 'g' has been left out and one or two other mis-spellings. Don't forget the Website www.elkingtonfamily.com where a lot of useful information is held. 1. [ELKINGTON] Warwickshire Records
    2. Hi, I have now deposited the Warwickshire records of AEH Elkington, updated by myself and accepted by the Warwickshire Record Office. They include the start of the Branch in Oxfordshire in 1505/1515 with Richard Elkington and take many families up to the middle of the twentieth century. They are now on the shelves there for anyone to read. They follow the notes of AEHE but he made a mistake but I have left it in with additions as found by myself and accepted by the Record Office. I have also been asked to deposit these notes with the Society of Genealogists so they should be available there shortly I hope they prove useful to some of you. 1. [ELKINGTON] My earlier letters ab out Warwickshire Branch II and IIA Notes.
    2. Hi, At last I have found out what AEHE's mistake was. He had inserted the wrong dates and wife for one of the James's and this threw the entire tree out. I have spent the whole weekend trying to sort this out from census returns and other family records. I will have to separate the tree into two halves. If anyone knows the true parents of James Henry Elkington born in Southam in 1812, I should be glad if you could let me know. This has been a very difficult Branch to complete because of this error. 1. [ELKINGTON] AEHelkingtons Notes Warwickshire IIA
    2. Hi, I am plodding through his notes on Warwickshire for Branch IIA. I have found a definite error in them and wonder if anyone can help me. If you have the notes will you look for James Henry Elkington born 1801. I believe that he has wrongly attached some children which do not belong to James Henry and his Wife Ann. The only children I can find for them are Charles John.b.1842 in Camden Town and possibly Sarah b.1844 in Hampstead Marshal, Berks. AEHE has all the other children born in Southam but I think that this is a mistake. Hoping someone can help me. Regards JUDY ELKINGTON _www.elkingtonfamily.com_ (http://www.elkingtonfamily.com/)

    1. [ELKINGTON] Elizabeth and Elizabeth
    2. Hi, I am just completing Warwickshire Branch II notes and I have found a strange entry. Elizabeth born 1810 and died 1817. AEHE Has both the birth and death. If this is right then she was a twin. Her twin brother, John, was christened on 5 July 1810. It has not been entered under her name but because they were twins you could assume that they were christened on the same day. However, now comes my problem. There was another Elizabeth born to the same parents in 1812 whose date of christening was christened on 25 Feb 1812. Several points arise from this. 1) Why were there Two Elizabeths 2) Was the first child very weak and not expected to survive. 3) Is that why no christening is shown for the first Elizabeth who died aged 7. 4) Why was the next child called Elizabeth and christened. Has anyone any access to LDS files or church records for Church Lawford in Warwickshire. Many thanks Regards JUDY ELKINGTON _www.elkingtonfamily.com_ (http://www.elkingtonfamily.com/)
