He visited them, liked the area and moved there with his wife, his dauther Clarissa, and sons Holden and Daniel, in December 1808. They lived with the family of his daughter: Susanna Manchester on a farm between Lebanon and Smyrna until spring when Daniel built a log cabin. He died less than six months later. Donna "In Mr. Eldred's books, does he discuss any of the family that retained the original "Eldred" spelling? My family is "Eldred" and I have not been able to make much progress with them over the years. In case there may be some Eldred information in your books, is there any mention of Frederick Hoyt Eldred (b. 1826 d. 1910) m to Sarah Augusta Sutherland (d. 1883)? I think these people dropped out of the sky and landed in Colorado! Thanks, Lori Williams" .
