I've read and reread your information, but at this point I don't have enough data on Hardy Eldridge to establish a connection with your LA Eldridges. I do find it interesting that the list of Continental Soldiers in Georgia Line that you sent includes the surname of Hardy as well as the surname of Eldridge...you just know that somewhere there Is a Link. I can tell you that according to the 1850 & 1860 LA Census, Hardy Eldridge (age 45) was residing in Morehouse Parish, LA. Birthplace is listed as NC. His son, Thomas B. Eldridge (age 22) was there as well. In 1860, Thomas B. is residing with his son, William, b. LA...no wife is listed for Thomas, however. In the 1870 Morehouse Parish, LA Census, is the following: Eldridge, Thomas (40) - AL " Louisa (45) - GA " William (17) - LA Devon (?) James H. (19) - GA 1880 Morehouse Parish, LA Census Eldridge, Thomas B. (50) - AL - Planter " Catherine (42) - MS " Thomas Spencer (4) - LA " Lizzie (2) - LA Thomas Boggan Eldridge was born on October 24, 1829, in Butler Co., AL according to the information from his LA Civil War Pension Application. I would be absolutely thrilled if you see a connection..look forward to hearing from you soon. Alice Mattison ____________________________________________________________________________ Subj: Re: Hardy Eldridge Date: 00-11-10 18:27:35 EST From: AAMATTISON To: DELDRIDGE1 Donna, >From the research that I have done...yes, there are two Hardy Eldridges. There is a Hardy Eldridge that is in AL at the time of the Civil War and is listed in the Pension Records. I'm sorry, I should have told you that I've "run into" this before. I do know that the Hardy Eldridge who married Elizabeth Boggan on June 2, 1825, is My Hardy Eldridge. I believe that the other Hardy Eldridge remained in AL through 1870, at least. I am also interested in Spencer Eldridge who owned land in AL adjoining that of Hardy Eldridge...because Thomas Boggan Eldridge's son was named Thomas Spencer Eldridge. Coincidence or relation??? Thanks for your help. I have come across some information that is connecting the Boggan family in this area (Lowndes/Butler County) to an Eldridge family from Anson County, North Carolina. >> Hardy Eldridge was the brother-in-law of Anderson Boggan. Hardy's wife Elizabeth Boggan (Anderson Boggan's sister) died in 1837. Anderson Boggan ran a store near Georgiana, AL in Butler Co. I have a list of people who shopped there between 1837 and 1844. Anderson Boggan moved to Jasper Co. MS and operated another store there called the Jasper County Fellowship Community Store. The books of that store contain the names ELDRIDGE, Benjamin and James PARKER (I'm looking for info on them), RUSTAN, RAYFORD, and Osborn and Mrs. FAIL, previously of Butler County. George W. Massengill was the father-in-law of Anderson Boggan. I have info that connects some Eldridges in Wilcox County to some HILLs who were there by 1830. I'm researching Hills and Lees from the Sampson Co./Johnston Co. NC area (think the Massengills and some of the Fails were from there too). I know that several Lees and some other families left Butler Co. and ended up in Bienville and Desoto Parishes in LA. Cheryll Sumner
