The Virginia Genealogical Society Newsletter Vol. XXVI No.5, 5001 West Broad Street, Suite 115, Richmond, VA 23230-3023 Oct. 2000 Book Reviews p. 8 "Leila Eldridge D'AiutoloAiutolo, Warren L. Forsythe, William S. Hubard, and Mary Carolyn Mitton, compilers, The Descendants of William Moseley 1605/1606-1655 of Norfolk, Virginia, Moseley Family History, Book 1 of 2 (2000) xl, 870 pp. and Warren L. Forsythe, compiler, Moseley, Mosly, etc. Families, Book 2 of 2, Genealogical Appendix: Apparently Non-Norfolk Lines and Raw Research Notes on Some Readily Available Records (2000) xxiv, 597 pp.; full-name indexes; Smythe-sewn; hardcover; two volume set is $30.00 postpaid. Order from Warren L. Forsythe, PO Box 1299, Ellensburg, WA 98926. Using the easy-to-follow Modified Register System (as refined by the National Genealogical Society), Book 1 lists more than 4500 descendants of William Moseley of Norfolk (County), Virginia over a period of 14 generations. By generation four, many Moseleys are residing in the counties of central and Southside Virginia. By generation eight, Moseleys and related families are in southwestern Virginia and also appear in the records of Alabama, Tennessee, Texas, and Mississippi as well as other southern and western states. Copious notes and related citations have been included for many individuals and it's refreshing to find these immediately following the structural components of a particular family group. The index is arranged alphabetically by surname and, under each surname, given names are also alphabetized. Each name is followed by the birth year and/or death date in square brackets. This inclusion is a great finding-aid for locating a specific individual. Readers will also appreciate the use of double entries for wives; i.c., the wife appears under her maiden name and under her married name(s) with her maiden name in parentheses. Book 2, covering Moseleys who have not (as yet) been linked to William of Norfolk County, follows the same basic style and format as Book 1. Considering the vast amount of information presented, this two-volume work has to be the best genealogical bargin you will find in today's market. jln" Some other names found are Eldridge, Fitzgerald, Glover, Goode, Guerrant, Hancock, Harris, Hill, Holman, Hooper, Hubard, Hunter, Jeffress, Johnson, Jones, Lee, Ligon/Lygon, Miller, Marshall I will look up names, if you send me full names. If it's a common name like William Moseley, I'll need approx. dates to narrow it down. You can order books from me or Forsythe. Leila Eldridge D'Aiutolo 53 Statesville Quarry Rd.
