--part1_54.af66ce4.2728707a_boundary Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hi Penny, I throw darts! Just kidding. I have a cheat sheet as what to expect from each state, so while I am working on a larger state, I am sending smaller states. I am using the Social Security Death Index located on http://www.rootsweb.com, so if you see something, you can find further information there. With the generated letter that they offer, I have ordered my father's and grandparents, and found one gr grandfather that was born in 1881. I was looking for his mother's maiden name for over 20 years, and it was there all along. Not bad for $7.00. I have been sending copies to my Mother and Aunts and they have been thrilled to get them. It hasn't been to bad. Issued for the names that I have included are as follows: Eldridge - 6,488; Eldredge - 1,200, Eldred - 1,368; and Elledge - 1,128. Compare this to Smith - 642,955 or Jones 351,039. Also, as a reminder if you go to the above rootsweb site, and down to interactive search for the Eldridge-L list and into the archives, I have the Maine census index for the years 1840 and 1850. Just use keyword "Maine". When I originally did the census index for the United States, I didn't include the name Elledge. However, since then I have seen it referenced that the Elledge family "might be" descended from Robert Eldred of Yarmouth and Chatham, MA, so I have included them in this project. Good Luck with your research! I thought they were running in alpha order so I have been waiting to see Maine. When Nebraska showed up, I panicked and thought I had missed the Maine listings. You have been great to do this. I know it is extremely time consuming, but your work is appreciated. Penny DELDRIDGE1@aol.com wrote: > Hi Penny, > > No, I haven't done it yet, but I can work on it next.
