    1. [ELDRIDGE-L] Elisha Eldridge & Mary Wheadon
    2. Hi Jerri, In your research for the parents of Elisha Eldridge married Mary Wheadon, I just posted the files for Jehosphat Eldred & Elizabeth Swift and Mulford Eldredge & Abiel Purington. I personally don't think that it is either. I saw in the archives where there is a posting about Elisha (daughter) of Jehosphat Eldred & Elizabeth Swift. I have pasted the correspondence to the end of this e-mail. I wonder if they have found anything new? I have also copied and pasted (from the archives) the DAR members that are descendants of Elisha Eldridge & Mary Wheadon. Still can not locate the parents of Elisha, however, found this to be very interesting. ABSTRACTS OF REV. Pam Wilson has set up another "L" list - "EFSS" - There are several discussions on the Eldridge/Aldridge/Aldrige - Let me know what you think? We could try there. But, hopefully, someone will recognize something. I always used my son's computer for the little e-mail I did from home and he recently moved out with his machine. I asked him to look under my Eldridge folder for George Maines, and this is the address he gave me. I think I remember it as being you. Anyway, do you remember the information you sent me which linked Elisha Eldridge to Jehosophat Eldred, Jr. (I think it came from Lee McDonald and I think you and I both accepted this as the current line for our Elisha)? Well, yesterday I was looking around an LDS site (www.familysearch.org) and found that Elisha Eldred, b. Aug 1, 1856, (born in Warren, Kent, CT) was a female and married to Naamah Owen. This Elisha is the daughter of Jehosaphat Eldred and Elizabeth Swift (the same parents listed by Lee McDonald). Elisha's death date is Oct 16, 1825, and it occured in Detroit, MI. Even if this source mixed up the sex, that death date is way too early. There is also another Elisha Eldridge in this LDS database. He is born in 1856 (no day date) in Mansfield, CT, and died in 1841, in Lansingburg, NY. This birth and death information matches that in our Elisha's Revolutionary War pension. It shows him married to Nancy Wheaton, where the Rev War info has him married to Mary Whedon (Whedon was spelled several ways). This Nancy was born in 1764 in Dover, NY, where my info on Mary Whedon shows her being born in 1756 in Branford, CT (which was always questionable, but it fits with what I took as the rest of her family). Our Elisha's daughter, Nancy Eldridge, was the one who reported his pension information, so I think maybe the source of this information mixed up the daughter's name with the mother - this was a side line to this source anyway. Also, it shows Clark Eldridge as the son of Elisha - he was born in 1786 in Dover, NY, and died Sep 11, 1858, in Penfield, NY. I have Clark Eldridge as one of the children of our Elisha. So, as far as I'm concerned, the mystery continues as to exactly who Elisha's parents were and I'm going to "decertify" the information from Lee McDonald. I'm also going to attempt to contact the references for both these bits of LDS information. I know you go hot and cold with genealogy, so no need to answer unless the mood strikes you. I'll keep you posted if I find out anything solid. Take Care, Dave Benham Berkley, MI
