I noticed that in the information given earlier that I incorrectly reported the date of birth for Thomas Eldred of Ipswich, Suffolk, England. Thomas Eldred b. c. 1595, d. 1640, m. 4 Feb. 1617 to Anna Watson, son Thomas born 20 December 1617. His Will dated 1640 left the house in Ipswich for life to Anna with the remainder to Thomas, his eldest son. Eldredge Genealogy by Zoeth S. Eldredge, Esq., of San Francisco, Cal. states that William Eldred, Robert Eldred of Yarmouth and Monomoy, and Samuel Eldred of Cambridge and Stonington were brothers who came to Mass. about 1635 from England. William was appointed constable in Yarmouth in 1657, 1662, 1674, 1675, and 1677 and was also surveyor of highways; he was a deputy to the Colony Court and held other offices. Dave Benham, <dodgeboy@mindspring.com> writes that William Eldredge b. c. 1622, d. Nov. 1679 m. Anne Lumpkin 3March 1642/3 had two brothers Robert Eldred b. c. 1627, d. bef 18 Jan 1681/2 m. Elizabeth Nickerson Oct. 1649; Samuel Eldred b. Nov. 20, 1620; d. bet. 1697-1699; m. Elizabeth Miller 25 Nov. 1640. From all that I can determine the William and Robert Eldred of Norfolk and Samuel Eldred of Ipswich, Suffolk are not brothers.
