I am looking for information on any Eldridge named Marion or Virgil. My great grandfather was Marion Eldridge and the only place I have found a record of him was in Clark Co Kentucky in 1890 census. He had a ten year old brother living with him. I was hoping some ELDRIDGE researcher out there might have a Marion or Virgil I could check out. Maybe one of them was named for their father. Thanks, Zahn
My ancestor is suppose to be a john of Burlington, Mercer and Monmouth county, does anyone have the family of John Eldridge and Mary Runlong, about the right period, but if the family is listed I might eliminate them, did they have a son Aaron 1800? Sue

Enos lived near or in part of Philadelphia listed as Northern Liberties in census. He moved his family to Salem, OH abt 1833. In Salem he served as mayor for a short time--less than a year. He is listed in the census as a currier. Died: Sun 7 May 1871. Salem Republican 1857 - 1877 Obit died of cancer of the face at his residence on Main St. Salem, aged 74 one of oldest citizens. Hope this is some help to you. I sure would like to know someone else who is researching this family, as I have been having a tough time of it. As best I can tell this Enos is the son of Enos b. 6 Nov 1764 in NJ to William Eldridge and Deborah Malander. My husband is the gr grandson of David and thus Enos would be his gr gr grandfather. Such is not the case with my Eldridge family. They moved from NJ> PA> OH>TN>VA>DC>MA. My husband'sfather was left an orphan at the age of 7 and his grandfather died when his father was only 12. My Eldridge line is semi in the ditch with David Eldridge b. 1827 in PA; family moved to Salem, OH in 1833; m. Elizabeth Bridges abt 1850, but I can't find a marriage record in OH, PA, or NJ. Nor can I find a birth record to prove his parents were Enos Eldridge and wife Sarah. Enos did not leave a will when he died, but a sum of money was paid to David Eldridge when his estate was settled. David Eldridge was a carriage maker in Salem and Mt. Pleasant, OH. He later moved to Knoxville, TN where he died in 1878 at the age of 51. I am also searching for the families of William (1) and Deborah Malander. I know almost nothing of this William. I would like to add to this a quote from Nelson B. Eldred, III: "Samuel and Elizabeth (Miller) Eldred appear in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1641.....Other Eldreds were in the new world during the early colonization period - Robert in Plymouth (1639), and William in Yarmouth, Massachusetts (1642); John in Hampton, New Hampshire (1640); Nathaniel in Windsor, Connecticut (1644); John in New Jersey (1670) and Thomas in Virginia (1648). In documents of the time the surname is usually spelled Eldred, Eldredge, or Eldridge."
