I am looking for information on a Martha Eldridge (b. 1667 in England) Her parents were Thomas Eldridge and Amy? and Martha had two husbands. The first being Daniel Zelley who died in England and Joseph Dixon who she married after she got to America. She died in Pennsylvania somewhere around 1735. Any information you have would be helpful. Donna, Thank you for the accounts from the Boggan Store in Georgiana, AL. I have been trying to find Osborn Fail after he disappeared from Butler Co., AL. Your information tells me he was in Jasper Co., MS. Do you mind if I post this message on the Monroe Co., AL board?? I think it would be helpful to a lot of folks. Osborn Fail was married to one of William ELDRIDGE Riley's cousins. The Rileys came to Butler and Monroe County from Edgefield, SC, around 1818/20. I have not been able to find a link between Eldridge and Riley. We think the Rileys came to SC and NC from MD. We believe they are descendants of Hugh Riley of Prince Georges County, MD. The name Eldridge (Elored, Eldred) is used in several of the Riley lines as a middle name. Wm Eldridge Riley came to Kemper Co, MS, around 1846 and married a Turner. One of their daughters married a Gill. One of the Gill daughters married George Alexander Eldridge, a grandson of Jonathan Jackson Eldridge from Anson Co., NC. Thanks, Donna __________________________________________________________________ Parkers in VA In 1650, two PARKER brothers came to VA; one located in Isle of Wight Co., and the other in Accomack Co. Thomas PARKER of �Macclesfield,� Isle of Wight, Co., VA, born 1629, in England; died 1685, VA; married ��, and was the ancestor of many distinguished men and women, one of which was Col. Josiah PARKER, of Revolutionary fame, who was on of Washington�s much trusted officers; as a soldier he was distinguished; he was also a member of the first Continental Congress. George PARKER, of Accomack Co., VA, born 1633, in England; died in VA. He seems to have landed just previous to Bacon�s Rebellion, and doubtless obtained his title of Captain while in the service of that redoubtable warrior. However, there is no authentic record of this. He married ��, and was the ancestor of many distinguished citizens, of which were Judge George PARKER, of Accomack Co., VA, and Robert PARKER, of Watt�s Island, many of whose descendants have filled positions of honor and trust. The early records of the family in VA are very imperfect, and though it is positively known that Dr. Alexander PARKER, of �Tappahannock,� Essex Co., VA, was the grandson of Judge George PARKER, of Accomack Co., and a descendant of Capt. George PARKER, of Accomack Do., VA, and a kinsman of the Earls of Morley and Macclesfield, but the record is so vague it is best to withhold it. 1. (Colonel) Alexander PARKER, served as a Captain in the Continental Army; was present at the battles in the North and at Yorktown, where he commanded a company of light infantry in Gen. He served with distinction.in the Revolutionary War; was an Officer in the VA State Navy, 1776-80, commanded a vessel called the �Tempest,� during the Revolution. He was a staunch and liberal supporter of the Episcopal Church; married Mary Sturman, daughter of Foxhall STURMAN and Hannah CHILTON. 115. (General) Thomas PARKER, was a Captain in the Revolutionary Army, serving in the 2nd VA. Regiment; remained in the Army, and in 1812 was a Colonel, and served on the Northern frontier under General Wade HAMPTON. Rustan and William Rustan, Rayford, Oshon and Mrs. Fail also appear in the books of that store and might be the same people who lived previously in Butler County. GEORGE M. ELDREDGE ELDREDGE, George M., born December 6, 1810 in Cold Springs, New Jersey; died April 27, 1886 at his residence. He married Emma Frierson (Frieson) in 1842, and they had three children. The Eldredges came to Vermilion parish in 1870. After a "long and active career in public life," G.M. Eldredge died while serving as a State Representative. ELDREDGE, Emma E., nee Frierson (Frieson), born July 5, 1819, in Charleston, South Carolina; died January 1, 1890. She was the wife of George M. Eldredge (see). They were married in 1842 and had three children. ELDREDGE, Langdon M. born September 25, 1879, died November 1, 1910 after an illness of several months. Was the eldest son of M.L. Eldredge, president of the Vermilion Parish School Board. Langdon had been employed in a railroad office in Houston, Texas until shortly before his death. Langdon was a grandson of George M. On the 1870 LA Census, The Elijah Eldridge is my Eliabe Terry Eldridge. The Isaac Eldridge listed is the right age to be his brother Isaac H. (Huntley, probably) Eldridge. I have Isaac married to Esther Lee in 1879--no facts. An engineer?? I don't know. Their older brother James Thomas was a school teacher, so they may have been educated. Or, maybe he worked for the railroad. Their father was Jonathan Jackson Eldridge b. NC about 1806. His brother James E. died before 1856 in Anson Co., NC. Jonathan's father may have been the James Eldridge who sold property in Chesterfield Co., SC (right over the line) in 1813 to Enoch Little--Jonathan J. married Frances Pickett Little (Lytle.) These Eldridges were also associated with the Huntleys, Hubbards, Terrys and Picketts. I have found no indication that they are related to the Eldridges of Johnson County, NC.
