He married Elizabeth Stoddard Curtiss on Dec. 28th,1874. They Were still in NY at that time. Does anyone know of the family of Peyton R. Eldrige listed on the 1820, 1830, and 1840 census of Bourbon County KY? I believe his daughter, my GG Grandmother Martha, married John Clay of Bourbon County but know nothing about the rest of the family. Peyton R. Eldrige married Polly Guinn in Culpepper Co, VA in 1800 and is listed on the Culpepper Co VA 1810 census so must have moved to Bourbon County KY between 1810 and 1820. Bowen/Boen ELDRIDGE was born in RI abt.1791; died Oct 19, 1855 in Elizabeth City, NC. His wife, Margaret, was born 1803 in RI; died Aug 17,1844 in Elizabeth City, NC. Don't know when they married or where but their daughter, Frances, was born in NC Aug 6, 1829. Frances married Peter COPES in Elizabeth City, Pasquotank Co.,NC on June 6, 1843.Peter died Sept 3, 1858. Frances & Peter had the following children: John S. Florence married Gideon Marshall HUGHES in 1879 Elizabeth City, NC Bowen and Margaret Eldridge do not appear in any census that I have found. Both are buried in Elizabeth City. He was a Navigator. Samuel Rhodes was a Sea Captain. Maybe Bowen was at sea when the census was taken...but would Margaret have been with him?? If anyone Haas run across these folks, I'd be so happy to hear from you.
