Cassie, your military project is an admirable one, but one that will grow and grow and grow! My cousins from Texas, John L. Elam Jr., Eugene Mack Elam, and Worley Joe Elam all served in the Navy in WWII. I served in the Navy, 1953-57 (officially a Korean Vet, but also spent nearly a year in Vietnam during that time), RM2, radioman, Enlisted Staff, Comphibgru One, aboard USS Eldorado, USS Estes, USS Cook, USS Diachenko, and other ships and at Amphibious Base, Coronado (San Diego). For your information and others who may be interested, my book on the Elam family is finished, except for final editing and including photographs, maps, etc. I had hoped to have it all done by now and to circulate at our 25th annual Elam reunion which is in Thousand Oaks, CA,, June 11-13. I'll have the manuscript there but no printed copy. I will be traveling in the West after the reunion until the end of July, so plans to print the book will be seriously begun in August, although I have bids already. I will post a notice when this occurs. Also for general into, my computer will be off during my travels. I will check in again about August 1. Good luck with your military list and other projects. We all appreciate your work. Have a nice summer. Earl H. Elam
