    3. Annette: In your posting below, I noticed a couple of interesting things which prompts some additional information and a question. First the question; it regards Elizabeth, who we know as the widow of Gilbert Elam IV, who married Archelaus Nunnally. The information you passed on had her name as Elizabeth Scott Farguson Elam Nunnally. Do you have any further information about Elizabeth, her maiden name as Scott and this possible 1st marriage to a Farguson?? I have not been able to pin down that she was a Scott - see the information further down under Archelaus Nunnally where she is given as a Scott - and this name Farguson is the first I have ever seen of it. An additional question regards her children by Gilbert Elam IV. Her son Josiah's descendants are well known. But her daughter Keziah is problematic. My whole Elam line hangs by the assumption and deduction that she married into the Nunnallys as well. Do you or does anyone know what happened to her? (Sorry to redundant with this question, as I have asked it several times before.) Now the information. Notice the occurence of many Henrico and Chesterfield family names in the middle names of John Nunnally's children. Regarding Susan Burton d/o William Burton & Mary Walthall, I have the following (but without documentation) about her marriage to John Nunnally. This comes from Josephy Adams Shortal, "Nunnally Genealogy" Hampton, Va.: privately published, mimeo, 1978, pps. 6-7, and 9. pps. 6-7 "4.12 Archelaus NUNNALLY was b in Chesterfield Col, Va. and d 1794 in Powhatan Co., Va. Josiah ELAM was raised by his step-father Archelaus NUNNALLY in Powhatan Co. and served in the Revolution, after which he moved to Greene Co., Ohio where he became the progenitor of a large family of Elams. (See 'The Elam Family' by Harvey W. Elam.) Archelaus NUNNALLY bought 200 acres of land on the Apponattox river in Cumberland Co., Va. 24 Jun 1771. This area became a part of Powhatan Co., Va. in 1777 where, in 1783, Archelaus was listed as head of a family of eight with seven slaves. On 23 Sep 1782 Archelaus purchased 250 acres of adjoining land from the Burton estate. Then on 5 Oct 1792 he sold this 250 acres, for a token sum, to his son John, who had married a Burton daughter.
