I can't really list an ELAM pedigree here, because so far I know of only one ancestor named ELAM. But I have not posted this query since July of 1998, so I'll try it again. I would hope that someone new to the list might know something about the parents of my gt.gt.gt.grandmother. Mary ELAM b. in VA m. Henry LONDON 13 Dec 1803 in Mecklenburg Co., VA (One book of marriage bonds gives the year as 1802. Another gives it as 1803. In a Bounty Land Warrant, Mary gave the year as 1802.) My gt.gt.gt.grandparents were Henry and Mary ELAM LONDON. I don't know the parents of either one. According to censuses, they were born in VA. According to the 1840 census, Mary was 60 to 70, which would mean that she was born between 1770 and 1780. Then in 1850 (after Henry died), there was a 62 yr. old Mary LONDON. That may have been she. In that case she would have been born in 1788. I found a Polly mentioned in the will of Joel ELAM (Mecklenburg Co., VA, Will Book 4, P. 49, dated 21 Apr 1797 and recorded 10 Sep 1798) and have wondered if that might be my Mary. But on Gary Corlew's webpage I read that Joel's Polly married a GRAVES. By 1805 Henry and Mary lived in Rutherford Co., NC (later became Cleveland Co.). Later an Anderson S. ELAM moved there, also, and I have wondered if he might have been related to Mary. Marilyn Masten told me that Anderson did not have a sister named Mary and that his Aunt Mary married an ELMORE. Maybe a cousin? Lallie Wetzig once sent me some information from a lady in AR who thought my Mary might have been the daughter of John ELAM, the third son of Edward ELAM I. Does anyone have a complete list of the children of this Edward and of his son John? I would be grateful for any help in finding Mary's parents. Barbara Dooley Cullowhee, NC
