Peggy and All, I just wanted to point out some differing information regarding the children of Llewallyn and Mary "Polly" Eans Elam. James Elam married Marinda Sharp and later married Mary Alice Roberts. This James did not die in 1883 in Washington Territory according to my research. James died in Benton County Arkansas in 1901. He is my g.g.g.g. grandfather, making Llewallyn "Lou Allen" my g.g.g.g.g. grandfather. William Wilshire Elam, lived in Benton County Arkansas a short time, later moving to live with his daughter in Texas, where he then died and was buried. Other Children of Llewallyn and Mary "Polly" Eans Elam are Susan, Elizabeth Ann, Alfred Martin and Nancy. In the 1850 Bond Co, Ill Census Alfred and his family are residing with James and Marinda. Lewallyn is said to have been a veteran of the war of 1812, however, I have no documentation of that at this point. Lewallyn moved to Butler KY between 1817 and 1820, then on to Clark County IL arou1823-1825. Lewallyn died and was buried in Illinois and so was Mary according to what information I have been able to find. I am planning a trip to Chicago this summer at which time I hope to be able to obtain records backing their place of death and burial sites. Hope this helps someone.
