    3. Kent, you can obtain an index to topographic maps of Virginia from the Unted States Geological Survey (USGS), Map Sales, Box 25286, Federal Center, Bldg, 810, Denver, CO 80225. I have not ordered maps since about 1995 but I think this address is good. Also, you might try calling 303-236-7477, Denver, USGS Office, for info on maps and how to order. I think that number is still good. You can obtain detailed maps for a reasonable cost covering the region in which you are interested. My book will contain much about the the land sales involving the brothers (I think) William, Edward, and Joel. There was a definite connection between these men and their offspring who stayed in the area. Originally, the region was a part of Brunwick co, then it was part of Lunenburg Co., then, finally, there was Lunenburg, Mecklenburg, and Charlotte counties. Thus, some confusion exists because some places where the Elams lived was once in all of these counties. It looks now that my book will not be ready for circulation until late in the summer. I am about finished with writing and editing, but I will be away for almost two months in June and July and it will take about six weeks or so to get it printed. I'll be circulating a notice when it is available. Thanks for your interest. Good luck with your research. Earl
