I have always been under the impression that Elizabeth Bolling was Robert (of Dale Parish) Elam's wife. In response to a query I sent to the Bolling mail list, I received the following response. Does anyone have any thoughts (or better yet, documentation)? "I have this following Elizabeth Bolling marrying an Elam; Martin not Robert. Would be interested in your comments. Time is aabout right. R & W 371. John bapt. 1644--His father was John #360 Elizabeth/Martin Elam R & W Fh371 John Bolling is reputed to have a younger brother named Robert Bolling, immigrant, (Fh480). A number of people were interested in the information I found on "old" Samuel Elam, so I thought there might be some interest in this... New York City Wills, 1780-1782 Page 143.--I, BENJAMIN BIRKETT, at present of the City of New York, merchant, do make this will. I leave to my honoured father, John Birkett, hat-maker, at Hull in Yorkshire, five guineas; unto my dearly beloved sister, Jane Birkett, living with my father, five guineas as a memorial of unimpaired fraternal affection. Whatever effects I have at my decease, as soon as convenient after, to be turned into money. The proceeds and other personal estate to be placed out on good security on interest by my executors; the produce of which every quarter of a year they are to pay to my honoured and dear Mother, Sarah Birkett, now or lately dwelling at Kendal in Westmoreland, during her natural life; such payments not to be liable to the receipt or control of my father; her receipt alone to be sufficient. After her decease, the whole of my estate unto my sister Jane; she paying to my aunt, Hannah Satterthwaite, relict of my uncle, William Satterthwaite of Kent Street Road, London, ten guineas; unto my executors, nine guineas, as hereafter expressed in confidence. Should she die without heirs, and not have occasion to make use of more than her fortune's interest, she will at her decease leave to my worthy and dear friend, Esther Fisher, ?40 sterling; unto Sarah, Miers, and Samuel Fisher, each ?40; they being brothers and sisters to my deceased and dearly beloved friend, Jabez Maud Fisher, late of Philadelphia in North America, merchant. LaHarpe, Sept 24 - Mr. Joseph Franklin ELAM died Tuesday morning about 5 o'clock at his home here after a long illness. The funeral services were held this morning at 10 o'clock from the Baptist church with Rev. McDonald Thompson of Ottawa officiating, and the body was shipped to Moreland, Okla for internment. Probate Records, Allen County, KS, Packet 3018, names his heirs as: Mary D. ELAM, wife, age 80, of LaHarpe, KS J. ELAM, son, of Wichita, KS Sherman ELAM, son, of Wichita, KS Milton ELAM, son, of Moreland, OK Etta PRICE, daughter, of Humboldt, KS Lydia MACKELWAYNE, daughter, of Burton, KS (all of legal age) Regards, Bob Walker

Does anyone have information or any census records regarding the children of Brice PATRICK and Martha (ELAM) PATRICK that were married in Morgan County, KY on March 31, 1878? I only know of one child, Sarah Jane PATRICK, and don't know when she was born. Sharon

ELAM, JOSEPH BARTON,a Representative from Louisiana; born near Hope,Hempstead County, Ark., June 12, 1821; moved with his father to Natchitoches, La., in 1826; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1843 and commenced practice in Alexandria, La.; moved to the parish of De Soto in 1851; member and speaker of the State house of representatives 1851-1861; elected a delegate to the State constitutional convention in 1861 and signed the ordinance of secession; elected as a Democrat to the Forty-fifth and Forty-sixth Congresses (March 4, 1877-Mar 3,1881_; unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1880 to the Forty-seventh Congress; resumed the practice of law in Mansfield, De Soto Parish, La., where he died July 4, 1885; interment in Mansfield Cemetery. Henry Luke Elam-Married Mary Krout (Aunt Anna) Who had custody of herBrothers child and raised the chld wih Uncle Luke..R.G. apparently was calledR,G.Elam at times and R.G.Krout at other times. ELAM but am interested in your Alabama ELAMs. In the very early 1800's there were several ELAMs in Warren and Cannon County, TN; Reuben, Lemeul, William, John, and Jonathan. I've been unable to ever locate anyone researching Jonathan....he kind of disappeared. On a recent trip to Warren County I located a Power of Attorney, dated 1821, that listed Jonathan's residence as Alabama. Do you know anything about that line? Regards, Bob Walker
