    3. In 1992, CYNTHIA WILLIAMSON of UT submitted this line to the LDS. She has Samuel's father as John Agner (abt. 1796-1828 Abbeville SC). Abbeville is only two counties away from Newberry, and Newberry is where George Egner/Agner's line settled. George came out of Rowan NC. And herein lies the problem. Rowan is so messed up and there doesn't seem to be any documentation to help us out. In Rowan, some believe two separate lines settled; though they are usually assumed to from the same line. Henry Aegender/Agner and Jacob Egner both settled there in the mid to late 1750s. We know Henry is one of two sons of Johannes Aegender (the other being Ludwig who lived in PA and MD). Jacob may have been the eldest son of Johann Mathias Egner of modern day Lehigh County. Mathias' will mentions his eldest son Jacob and makes it sound like he already received his inheritance. Jacob is last known be in the (now) Lehigh area in 1750 for the baptism of his daughter Magdalena. Descendents are having trouble figuring out where their ancestor comes from: Henry's line or Jacob's line. My gut feeling is that it is Jacob's line that went to SC. This is solely based on the fact that a Revolutionary War veteran Mathias Egner appears in SC. However it is possible that some of both lines went to SC. The SC line seems so different from Rowan. I don't think Rowan lines had slaves, yet SC did. Just something I noticed.
