Hooton Octava Ellen Hooton, 89, of Stickney, died Friday, June 4, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness. Born May 7, 1910, in Bernie, she was the daughter of the late John and Susan Egnoe Adkins. Mrs. Hooton was a devoted housewife and mother, a charter member of the Assembly of God Church, Sundial and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everette E. Hooton Sr.; a daughter, Dorcas McKnight; a sister; and three brothers. Survivors include three daughters, Eloise Atkins of Beckley, Betty George of Kingwood, Texas, and Arbutus Hudnall of Frametown; three sons, James Hooton of Whitesville, Joe Hooton of Smithfield, Va., and Everette E. Hooton Jr. of Hiram, Ohio; 23 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Assembly of God Church, Sundial, with the Rev. J.D. Pettry officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Cemetery, Orgas. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville, and one hour before the services Tuesday at the church.
