I found this very interesting. Maybe this is why I have been called "Dean" all my life when my first name is Phillip. Even my mother never spoke why, it was just family tradition. This kind of information is very helpful to our researching. This site helped me understand all the Johanns and Marias, etc. when I first got started. He also has three different naming patterns that were commonly used. http://www.kerchner.com/germname.htm He has some other nice links at the bottom of the page. Hope this helps. --Celia :o) ==== EGNER Mailing List ==== Visit the Egner/Agner resource page: http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/e/g/EGNER/ ============================== Free Web space.
