If you've ever thought about ordering your ancestors' military or pension papers, now would be the time to do it. I can't believe the increase! I've been thinking about ordering some, but haven't really had the extra money--but I think I'll do it now, as there's no way I'm paying the increased fees! Here's the scoop: The National Archives will be increasing the price of Military Service Records from $10 to $17.50 Pension Records (Rev. War, Civil War, etc.) from $10 to $40 Effective July 1, 2000 ---Celia Hartmann :o) >> Most of these records are available on microfilm. I found the pension records for ancestor that contained over 100 pages. The NARA Regional branch in Seattle charged me $ .25 per page to make copies. I thought it was a fair price. You should be able to order them through your local Family History Center. Most of them have microfilm printers. Good luck. Chris
