Archibald researchers: Ever since Dory found that Jonathan Egnor on the school tuition receipts, the name Jonathan as bothered me. Today, I (finally!) figured out why. Back when the clan was in Maryland, the first time John Jr. was enumerated in the census (1800) he was listed as Jonathan Jr. Igender, John MD WASHINGTON CO. 134 1800 10201-0110100 Igender, Jonathan, Jr. MD WASHINGTON CO. 134 1800 10010-2001000 Igender, Susannah MD WASHINGTON CO. 134 1800 40100-2000000 Still can't explain why John Jr. who had already had a son John III "Sly John" would name another son named Jonathan who may have changed his name to Archibald. (except for the theory that Arch was really a son of John Jr.'s third wife from her first marriage).......but of course there was that true story in Rootsweb's Review recently about the family that had two sons, one named Robert and one named Bob!
