    1. Re: [A/EGNER] Wirbel Immigrant
    2. Celia, Ritch, & Beth
    3. I have FTM's Passenger and Immigration Lists Index (CD#354), it shows the following for Philip Wirbel. Too bad it didn't list his age. If Hope is right and he is the immigrant then I'd say the following is your Philip. There are a couple other Wirbels that arrived before him and several under the spelling Werbell (including a Philip who was age 34 when arrived in 1732) Any larger library or genealogical society will have all three of these books. Koger, Index to the Names of 30,000 Immigrants...Supplementing the Rupp, Ship Load Volume, 1935, 232p. is inferior to Wecken's index in the third edition (above). Page 449 contains "Names of the First Palatines in North Carolina, as Early as 1709 and 1710"; and pages 449-451 contain "Names of Males, Salzburgers, Settled in Georgia, 1734-1741." Contrary to some opinions, this work by Rupp does not duplicate nos. 9041-9042 by Strassburger, although there are thousands of names which are duplicates. Strassburger's work, however, is more accurate and more reliable than Rupp's. See also no. 9330, Urlsperger. The Salzburgers mentioned above were immigrants from Salzburg, Austria. Source Annotation: Contains 29,800 names, with annotations written by Krebs (see no. 4203). Various references to the names in Strassburger will be found in other listings, mostly where authors have attempted to line up their information with that in Strassburger. This work (often referred to as Strassburger and Hinke) is much superior to no. 7820, Rupp, and no. 1804, Egle. It forms a revision with additions to Rupp and Egle, and was prepared and edited with great accuracy. Vol. 1 contains captains' lists, 1727-1775; vol. 2 has facsimiles of all signatures of signers of oaths of allegiance and oaths of abjuration, and was not included in the G.P.C. reprint; vol. 3 has captains' lists from 1785-1808, and indexes to captains, ships, ports of departure, and surnames in all volumes. The set was originally vols. 42-44 of the Pennsylvania German Society Proceedings. Source Page #: 319

    1. Re: [A/EGNER] Wirbel/Varble or Admire
    2. Celia, Ritch, & Beth
    3. Dorothy, Maybe someone on the list has more, but I have precious little. And all I do know is from a letter from Hope Peterson as submitted to the Eygner Family Association in 1993. In the letter she states her direct line (I will paraphrase since she starts with herself and moves back in time and I want to start with your Philip): Philip Varble immigrant from Germany who married Dorothy Egender. Dorothy immigrated with parents, Margarita and Johann. They had a son Henry, born in NC who was a Revolutionary War veteran and moved to KY. Henry's son Philip was born in KY and moved to IL with children. Philip had a daughter Nancy who as born in KY and who moved with her parents. She married a Shoemaker. She then goes on to show 4 more generations including herself. I could give you her snail mail address, but she may no longer be there as the address is almost 6 years old. The Eygner Family Association is no longer exists, though I do keep in touch with the former editor. She has been a wealth of knowledge on many lines. Since Philip is the immigrant, you should be able to find him on a passenger list somewhere. If you can just find the correct spelling! At least you know it was before 1747. We would love to know more about your line! Do you know if there were anymore children besides Henry? Did Henry have more children? When did Philip move to KY? We have some Agners who moved to KY too and are wondering if they came together. I think at least one set of Agners went to AR before going to KY though. Anyway, please tell us more about your early line! --Celia Hartmann :o) ----- Original Message ----- From: Dorothy Lowe <dorolowe@swbell.net> To: <EGNER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, October 26, 1999 2:44 AM Subject: [A/EGNER] Wirbel/Varble or Admire > Philip Wirbel married Maria Dorothea Agner January 20, 1747. > > Does anyone have information on who Philip's parents were? 1. Re: [A/EGNER] agner/eigner, etc
    2. Celia, Ritch, & Beth
    3. Thanks, Pat. There are some of us trying to sort out the NC line and this will be a big help. I come off Ludwig & Christina's branch. He stayed up north. Question for you......Do you have any documenation that Phillipina and Christina are Henry's daughters. There are thoughts/rumors about them being daughters of Jacob. And I think Jacob might be the son of Johan Mathias Egner of Lehigh Co, PA, a different line from our Aegenders/Agners. No one seems to be able to find documenation to sort Rowan County out. We didn't have Henry's wife's maiden name or complete list of children either. May I add your name and email address to my website for a contact of the NC branch? Look forward to hearing more from you. --Celia L. Hartmann, list owner

Here is the url to search the messages posted to this list since we began in August (Has it been that long?): http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl At the place where it asks for the name of the list to search, be sure you put Egner. Even though our list is for Egner and Agner researchers (and the many variants) our list's official name is Egner. Later, folks! By the way, we got 2 more signed up this week. Now we are 37. Let's post some data to the list! --Celia :o)

    3. Jean, I just reviewed the will on our bulletin board. There has got to be a definite connection between your Roy and Mary Anne and Maurice's line!!!!!!! The names are too coincidental not to be. The name Scott and Major show up in her line. You guys have got to be cousins of some sort! Mary Anne is on the list, so she will see this when she gets to work Monday or so. I think your best bet would be to contact her (off the list) and see if she or you can get in touch with her cousin Herb, his mother was a Major (if I have my facts right). He may remember something to help. I wish you luck! Keep me informed. --Celia :o) ----- Original Message ----- From: Craig Deans <craigdeans@worldnet.att.net> To: <EGNER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, October 10, 1999 11:53 AM Subject: [A/EGNER] Last Will of Roy M.
