Mary was b. Abt 1831, NC; m. 22 August 1852 in Whitley Co, KY. So the information that you found fits this picture. John would have been b. Abt April 1851. 3. i have to agree with Celia on Rowan co. North Carolina.... this group of Agner's have been very hard to search and to verify down there...Thats why we have been working like crazy over the past year in trying to sort this family out once and for all....We even had problems with them when we were looking for them in pa... due to the fact there was another group of Egner's living in the same county as they were.It took us forever to figure out that we were dealing with two different families all together.... What finally gave it away was the fact that Celia or Carol discovered that one of the sons for Mathias Egner ddnt belong to him at all... This was Ludiwg....for years researchers thought he belonged to Mathis... But he didnt he belong to Johannes Agender.....Thats how we discovered there were two different families living in Lehigh co. Pa with similar names and were finally able to sort these families out to a degree...But Mathias family still needs work done on them...Several of his son's are not accounted for at this time.....We Think that maybe one of his son's Jacob ended up in Rowan Co. N.C around the same time that Johannes and his family showed up down there...Just cant prove it.... WE looked into the famous wagon trail from the NorthEast to deep south....That's how we discovered that several of Ludwig's childern followed this trail... They went from Frederick and Washington Counties in Maryland to Rockbridge County, Virginia.... Couple of his childern went into Ohio and settled... Im done for the moment..... :-) ===== HTTP://www.fortunecity.com/meltingpot/richard/755/index.html my genealogy page on the net.. check it out.... __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 2. Stan Young
    3. A comment - when dealing with Rowan in this period (before 1800), assuming all are from one line is likely to lead you astray. Case in point - while researching my 3g & 4g grandfathers (both named Benjamin Young), I found Benjamin Youngs from 3 different lines - all in the same period - in Rowan. They all came from different areas. (One of those Youngs later married an Agner, so we're not totally off-topic! :-) To understand genealogy in Rowan, you have to understand the history of the area - particularly the Great Wagon Road. Rowan was the focal point of TWO great migration patterns - from Pennsylvania and surrounding areas to Rowan, and from the Rowan area west, including modern-day Tennessee, Kentucky, and Missouri. If someone seems to have dropped into Rowan from outer space, look back up the Great Wagon Road. If they disappeared, look west - or back up the Road! (Some pushed on, some got homesick.) Taking a look at the history of the area, you'll encounter: The Granville Land Grants The Moravians Conestoga wagons The Cherokees (and many other tribes) The State of Franklin (ever hear of that one?) Daniel Boone and family and the gateway to Kentucky - and points west! I'd suggest the following article on the Great Wagon Road as a starting point: http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ifetch2?/u1/textindices/R/ROWANROOTS+19 99+421533994+F There's an imperfect, but interesting, map of the Wagon Road at: http://marketplace.staunton.va.us/oldtur/wagroad.html By the way - when researching folks in Rowan, note the number of early tavern and inn keepers. The Wagon Road was a powerful influence - and a great source of cash in an area that was really a barter economy at the time. Good Hunting! The next day pour the mixture into a pan large enough to hold the flattened newspaper clipping. Soak the clipping for one hour: remove and gently pat dry. Place the clipping on a flat surface and do not move until completely dry. The estimated life of your clipping after the milk of magnesia treatment is 200 years.

    3. In 1992, CYNTHIA WILLIAMSON of UT submitted this line to the LDS. She has Samuel's father as John Agner (abt. 1796-1828 Abbeville SC). Abbeville is only two counties away from Newberry, and Newberry is where George Egner/Agner's line settled. George came out of Rowan NC. And herein lies the problem. Rowan is so messed up and there doesn't seem to be any documentation to help us out. In Rowan, some believe two separate lines settled; though they are usually assumed to from the same line. Henry Aegender/Agner and Jacob Egner both settled there in the mid to late 1750s. We know Henry is one of two sons of Johannes Aegender (the other being Ludwig who lived in PA and MD). Jacob may have been the eldest son of Johann Mathias Egner of modern day Lehigh County. Mathias' will mentions his eldest son Jacob and makes it sound like he already received his inheritance. Jacob is last known be in the (now) Lehigh area in 1750 for the baptism of his daughter Magdalena. Descendents are having trouble figuring out where their ancestor comes from: Henry's line or Jacob's line. My gut feeling is that it is Jacob's line that went to SC. This is solely based on the fact that a Revolutionary War veteran Mathias Egner appears in SC. However it is possible that some of both lines went to SC. The SC line seems so different from Rowan. I don't think Rowan lines had slaves, yet SC did. Just something I noticed. Got our work cut out for us!!!! --Celia, list owner. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Tamboe1@aol.com> To: <EGNER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, November 07, 1999 11:52 AM Subject: Re: [A/EGNER] Egnor Line > Here is what I know about My Agner Family.
