I wrote Elizabeth Burns, the one who submitted the tuition receipts. Here is the reply I got: ========= There are 7 rolls of microfilm which contain receipts from 1820 through 1863. This is the first roll of film. I rented it from the LDS in Salt Lake City. I just ordered the second roll of film. The receipts don't seem to be in any kind of order. My nephew went up to WVU to see the receipts (in person) and he said they're all in boxes in no kind of order. I was disappointed that the receipts didn't name the school. Between 1820 and 1830 there were 30 schools in Monroe County but no locations were given. Another thing about the list I put on the archives. It's only 1/3 of the film. The first roll covers 1820-1840. Who knows what's on the remaining six rolls. elizabeth ========= So, this answers the question of which school.....No one has any idea! I didn't realize there would be some many schools during that timeperiod! It stands to reason that there may be more receipts that could be of value to us. ---Celia :o)

Courtesy of Margie Hartman, on our list. (I finally found it Margie!!!) I haven't tried any of these. ---Celia :o) ================= Here is additional information on preserving newspapers: Dissolve two tablets of milk of magnesia in 2 quarts of club soda overnight. Pour into a container large enough to accommodate the flattened newspaper page. Paper is fragile when wet, so to prevent it from tearning, put a piece of nylon net in the container below the page. Soak the clipping for an hour. Remove carefully, and pat dry. Put a weight on the top or along the edges of the page when it is semi-dry to keep the edges from curling. If the above home remedy seems too cumbersome, a de-acidification spray called Bookeeper is available from Light Impressions, 439 Monroe Avenue, Rochester, NY, 14603-0940 (800-828-6216). It comes in a 16-ounce aerosol can ($49.95 plus shipping) and is item number 2829. Light Impressions also carries custom-cut, museum-quality mylar film with which you can "encapsulate" the page once it's been de-acidified. Finally, should you decide to display the page on a wall, the "Front Page Frame" (24-inches by 16-inches) is available from Taylor Gifts, 600 Cedar Hollow Road, Paoli, PA, 219031 (800-829-1133). It is made of cherry-stained wood with a clear plastic protector and is item number 12074; the price is $19.98 plus shipping.
Does anyone have any information or clues who Sarah Egner, listed in Todd Co KY 1830 census, was married to and possibly her maiden name? She was 50-60 years old possibly a sister in-law of an older brother of Peter?. I was trying to determine if this was a possible migration route to or from Whitney Co. to Western KY. It sure doesn't seem like a logical route that would be taken. 1830 Todd Co KY Census Pg. 363 Sarah Eggner Males (1) 0-5 (1) 5-10 (1) 15-20 (1) 20-30 Females (1) 0-5 (1) 10-15 (1) 20-30 (1) 50-60 Total=8 Peter 1830 Calloway Co Census Males (1) 0-5 (2) 5-10 (1) 10-15 (1) 50-60 Females (1) 0-5 (2) 5-10 (1) 30-40 Total=11. Also there was a Henry M. Egner in 1836 in Todd County was the Sarah above the wife of Henry? Who was Henry M. where he is on the Egner chain? Dean

Maryland is much more likely correct. ----Celia Hartmann :o)

She was married 16 Dec. 1878 at age 20. On the license she is listed as Hannah F.,born in Rockbridge. Co., VA. and a current resident of Harrison Co. According to the census info. collected by some of you, she thus would have been the youngest child Of Jacob and Mary A."Polly" in the family of children including Joseph,Elizabeth, Sordonia, Mary, William and Jacob. I saw your unscribe note. I had recently joined the EGNER group to see if anyone from my lineage popped up. What Agners of yours came to the US? It's just our luck that the person we're interested in didn't have age or parents listed! Here is the person who submitted the file: Transcribed and submitted by Burns@asu.edu Celia, do you think you could contact that person and maybe get additional information?
Way to go Dory!!!!!!!!! I don't think John Jr would name one son John and another Jonathon. I have heard in rare circumstances that if one child dies young, that a later child would be given the same name. This has happened in my Czech roots. Another possibility is if each parent came to a marriage with prior children and one would be from each side, and they all end up with the same last name.
