Al & group: The name 'Kerbin' in your message gnawed at me until I dug out some research I had done at the Knox County courthouse. I thought it was quite interesting that we had the same name. Right now I have Peter Egner/Agner m. to Catherine Rough in Rowan Co, NC. These were my ggggrandparents, I think. A lot of my information I have just recently become privilege to through rootsweb, etc., so I'm still trying to prove a lot of it. There was a Milton Eggner, son of Peter & Catherine, who was my gggrandfather. He married a Sarah Ann Gray, who had two sons by other marriages. Milton & Sarah had a son Lyman Eggner, who was my ggrandfather. He married a Nancy Alice Berkeley. Lyman died young. The latter part of my information I know to be true. I have other children of each of my direct line. Is any of this part of your family. I look forward to hearing from you. Celia Lehmann

Hello Listers! I'm happy to announce that I am the new owner of our list. My name is Celia Hartmann and most of you know me already. I'm sure our list will never be a real active one--there just doesn't seem to be too many with the name! Many years ago, some "professional" told my Dad that if he ever found anyone with the Egnor name that they were related in someway because the name is so uncommon. Well, since starting this obsession called genealogy, I know that's not quite true. But I'll claim you all as cousins anyway--no matter which line you are researching! We know for sure there were three immigrant ancestors from the 1700s, seemingly unrelated. There may have been at least two more in the 1700s and several lines in the 1800s. Being listowner, I get the priviledge of knowing who's on the list and who isn't (he he he, I feel like a spy). I'm happy to say there are 20 of us subscribed to the list. I only see two addresses I'm not familiar with.......so now I'm curious, who are you researching? Don't want to put you on the spot or give out your addresses, but why don't you drop a line to the list introducing yourselves and tell us what names, places, and timeperiods you are researching? Perhaps you already have a cousin on the list! That goes for those of you that haven't already done so, even those of you I'm in touch with about everyday. All messages are archived on Rootsweb, so anyone doing a search for a name might just stumble across yours and you may find a new cousin! The next thing I'd like to say is that I will soon have a page on my website dedicated to all known researchers of the name and it's variants. I'd like to include each and everyone of you as a contact for your specific ancestor or your ancestor's state/county. A sample would be (only our names would be a hyperlink to our email address): Rowan County, North Carolina Celia L. Hartmann: Researching the Johannes Aegender family Ohio Celia L. Hartmann: Researching Putnam County (descendents of George Agner) and Hocking County (descendents of Martin Agner). Lincoln County, West Virginia Celia L. Hartmann: Researching all Egnors of Lincoln County. Right now, I've taken the liberty of adding every researcher I know and have listed their area(s) of research. If you do NOT wish to be included please let me know. When my page is ready for public view, I will post the url to the list so you all can check it out. Well, I've rattled on long enough. I hope through our list and any help we can give each other, that all our walls will come down. We may be a small list, but together we can do big things. ---Celia L. Hartmann Gen_Searchin@yahoo.com

Hello anyone and everyone, I'm in the process of working with several others on the Johannes Aegender (eventually Agner but sometimes spelled Eigner, Eagnor, Egnor, etc.) line. When Johannes arrived on 21 Sep 1731, arriving on the ship with him was his wife Margarita, and their children Katherina, age 12; Anna Kreta, age 5; Henriks, age 10; Ludwig, age 3; Magdelena, age 2; Dorothia, age 6. We have been able to determine who Henriks, Ludwig, and Dorothia married and have a theory on Anna Kreta and Katherina. I was wondering if anyone out there has information on the Catherine Egner who married John Stuckey? If so, I'd love to exchange possibilities with you. I am thinking that this Catherine Egner is really Katherina Aegender, born about 1719, probably in Switzerland since that is where the Johannes family was from. Here is why I came to that conclusion: 1) Our Katherina is the right age to have married John Stuckey, if the information out there on the internet about them is correct (no one seems to be able to offer a source on when they married or the church they used or anything that I can look the information up for myself). Anyway, I think I saw that they had a child John Jr. who was born about 1742 (if I remember right). 2) There is no Catherine Egner in the Johan Mathias Egner line that would be the right age and available to be this Mrs. Stuckey. 3) Also on the internet, someone had that John Stuckey was born in the canton of Bern, Switzerland -- the same canton Johannes was from. Again, no one has offered sources for this information. 4) Another clue, that could be purely coincidental, is that John Jr. supposedly died in Sugar Grove, Fairfield Co, Ohio. This is the same county Johannes Aegender's grandson went to. However, he went there about the same time John died--so he probably didn't go there to visit his cousins, but you never know. 5) The latest item came to me recently. Supposedly John Stuckey Jr. married a Salome Zimmerman about 1764, who was a daughter of Margaret Zimmerman. Our Katherina's sister Anna Margaretha we believe married a Ludwig Zimmerman and we have found the birth records on three of their children, one was named Salome. Salome was born 28 Aug 1746 near South Whitehall Twsp, now Lehigh County,PA and christened 14 Sep 1746 at the Jordan Lutheran Congregation in South Whitehall Twsp, now Lehigh County,PA. Could it be that John Jr. married his first cousin?? I would love to discuss the possibility that our Katherina Aegender is this Catherine Egner who married John Stuckey--especially anyone with sources to back up the information I've found on the internet concerning the Stuckeys. Anyone researching them? ---Celia :o)

Hello List: Since there's probably no one on the list that I don't know, I am submitting this for archival purposes, in the hopes that one day someone will stumble across it and see a connection. My name is Celia Hartmann and I am interested in just about any and all variants of the surname that came before 1800 to Amercia. Would love to share information with anyone with a connection to these lines. I'm in touch with various researchers, not just my own particular branch. My own connection looks to have come through Johannes Aegender who came on the Britannia in 1731. The name eventually became Agner, though my line got changed to Egnor. One brach of the line went to Rowan County, NC and eventually Arkansas and Kentucky. The other branch of the line settled in Pennsylvania and Maryland and eventually went to Ohio and the Virginias. We have the circumstantial evidence that says we come down from Johannes' son Ludwig, then his son John, then his son John Jr. It would seem John Jr. had a son named Archibald. Archibald is my GGGGrandfather. Archibald settled in Cabell County, Virginia (now Lincoln County, WV). To date, I have about 1000 descendents for Archibald. But I haven't found them all yet! He had a brother named Milton which is the great of Cecile Hartman (I believe). Marshall was formed out of Calloway in 1842. The Egners came from Rowan County, N.C. to Kentucky in 1818. My greatgrandmama lived and died in Clinton, Arkansas (Van Buren County) around 1866 after her last daughter, Exie Sophronia was born. Daniel Boone Egner (grandpa to Phillip Dean Egner and Nimmo) was born 25 Oct 1848 McCracken Co. Ky. (I think their dad's dad must have been the brother of Nathanial.) Augustus Elsworth Egner born Feb 6, 1881 Marshall County was Phillip Dean and Nimmo's grandpa and his brother was Benjamin Franklin Egner born 12 Oct 1877 in Marshall County, Ky. Now my grandmother was related to Nimmo and Phillip Dean as cousins. I figure she was a third-fourth cousin (just a guess because of the year's born). My grandmother was Elizabeth Ann Egner born in 1834. Her Father and Mother were Nathanial and Nancy Carpenter Egner. Are these Egners kin to Whitley County, Egners. I bet they are? Nimmo, Dean, do you know? Margie Fenley Hartman. I hope I have this straight. I am not sure who the papa in NC was; I believe it was Peter.
I'm like Richard, Most of the postings don't seem to be on my line, but enjoy seeing all the information on Egner's and this list is a great idea to share information, thanks Celia. It would be of benefit to me and possibly others if messages could be preface in the subject line with something like "Egner-MD Cecil Co: Peter's cousin" (Without the quotes) or something similar to this. This would make it easier to scan the mail list or subfolders for relevant links, especially if you get mail from multiple surname lists. Anyway I'm enjoying getting back into genealogy! Now if I could only get out of these 60+ hour weeks at work I could enjoy it more. Cousin Dean from Western KY. P.S. Has anyone made any link between the Egner's (Agners) in Western KY and Whitney Co., KY? and has a general idea when Egner's first came to America and where they entered been determined? This may have been discussed before I joined this list.
Has anyone made a link between the Egner's in Western KY (Marshall, McCracken, Graves counties) and the Egner's in Whitney County KY? I have a note on Milton H. Eggner where I picked up information that leads me to believe there is a strong connection there. The KY Land Grants Part II - GRANTS IN COUNTY COURT ORDERS: 19 Sep, 1854 Granted 20 acres, Book 43, Page 588, Trigg Co., KY. (Milton H. Eggner was listed with Jacob and Samuel Egner except theirs was in Whitney Co., KY) Thanks Dean Egner
