    2. Dear COLEMAN, MASCALL/MASKILL, DISKINS, NORTON, WATSON, SULLIVAN, PARTRIDGE, DONIPHAN, KELLY, JENNINGS, BAKER, WILLOUGHBY, PAYNE, ROBINSON, EDRINGTON, WOOLF, DUNCAN, LAMKIN/LAMPKIN, and EARLE lists, Re: 1600s families in Old Rappahannock/Richmond Counties, Virginia, (and connecting to the COLEMAN of Mobjack Bay,) that were later, with my branch, in the area of Spartanburg District/Old 96th District, South Carolina during the Revolutionary War and then went into and settled the area that became Christian/Caldwell Counties, Kentucky before they went through AL/MS Territory and into areas of Covington County, MS and later Simpson Co., MS before in the 1920s with my branch into West Carroll Parish, LA and then later some into Texas. (This is a very lengthy email regarding lines that repeatedly connect over the centuries. Some of these surnames may only have one brief mention of that individual bearing that surname as that is all I have on them, so far, and would be most grateful for any help regarding any of these individuals shown below. But there are so very many overall connections between the majority of these families that I fear missing something important so I am sending this to all of these lists. At the bottom of my information is some info on the Samuel BAKER and Susannah LAMPKIN family that went into Kentucky with the (Rev.) Fielding WOOLF and DUNCAN families that were married into my JENNINGS family that descends from many of these surnames above and at the very end of this email from me I have included information about this BAKER family in KY to see if anyone knows whether they connect with the Lawrence BAKER mentioned herein who married Mrs. Penelope "Nelly" NORTON KELLY, widow of Matthew KELLY, Sr.. And while there is not much mention of the LAMKIN/LAMPKIN family group in this particular email; I have other descent from LAMKIN/LAMPKIN through 1600s Northumberland County, VA through George LAMKIN/LAMPKIN, (1st husband,) and wife, Hannah COX, (poss. d/o Vincent COX,) who married 2nd husband, Dr. Samuel DEMOURVILLE, and from the LAMKIN and COX I descend in my HATTEN/HATTON lineage also out of 1600s VA in Jamestown and Norfolk County.) My name is Bellinda MYRICK-BARNETT and I have recently found new information for a possible 3rd line of COLEMAN descent, (while still trying to find something on the 1st and 2nd to prove them with 1 being a connection between the Rachael TUCKER that married Ripley COPELAND, Sr., (RS,) of NC & SC.) Please continue reading and I look forward to hearing from you either on one of the lists or directly at [email protected] In advance, I thank you for any assistance, as well as, if you should see any glaring errors or have any additional information, please do not hesitate to let me know. Today I am, specifically, searching for information on newly revealed information regarding my paternal 10th great grandparents who were Cornelius S(W)IL(L)IVO/AN(T)/ aka SWEL(L)IVAN(T)/SULLIVAN who was an immigrant to Old Rappahannock County, Virginia and many other spellings including OSHEELIVAN(T) and his wife, ? COLEMAN, who was a sister of Margaret COLEMAN, (who married Daniel DISKINS,) and they were the daughters of Margaret MASCELL/MASKILL and Richard COLEMAN whom is, apparently, in some way related to Robert COLEMAN of Mobjack Bay, VA. Margaret S(W)I/UL(L)IVA/ON(T)/ aka OSHEELIVAN, apparently, married Patrick NORTON, based on information from the will of her father, Cornelius S(W)I/UL(L)IVA/ON(T)/ aka OSHEELIVAN, who left considerable amounts of land to Patrick NORTON's son, Thomas NORTON, which would then go to Patrick upon Thomas' death. And Patrick and Margaret also had a daughter named Penelope "Nelly" NORTON. I don't think they had other children but not positive of that. Penelope "Nelly" NORTON who married 1st husband, Matthew KELLY, Sr. from whom I descend through their son, (Captain) John KELLY who married Amy DONIPHAN, (daughter of (Captain) Alexander DONIPHAN, Sr. and his 1st wife, Aimee PARTRIDGE, (sister of Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah, and Samuel, (all immigrants but no info yet on parents,) and DONIPHAN later married 2nd wife, Margaret MOTT and 3rd wife, Susannah ?/SMITH?.) I am, also, interested in the parents of Lawrence BAKER and whether he was previously married as well as children that he had with that wife and, also, with Mrs. Penelope "Nelly" NORTON KELLY. 2. And regarding the Cornelius SULLIVAN as I mentioned regarding his will in 1673, it would appear that this Cornelius SULLIVAN show below as marrying Katherine ? was a descendant of the earlier Cornelius SULLIVAN who would have died probably before this Cornelius SULLIVAN mentioned below died in 1688.....does anyone know anything about the earlier Cornelius SULLIVAN and his wife and children as I think that he may have had a daughter named Margaret SULLIVAN who married Patrick NORTON. Looking forward to hearing from you. (see the info below.) Sincerely, Bellinda Myrick-Barnett << Cornelius Sullivan of Northumberland County From Virginia Colonial Abstracts Vol. I & II Northumberland Cty. 2. Hello, again, Well, one particularly wonderful aspect about the internet is that there are constantly new webpages being added and, since it has been awhile since I checked the SWELLIVANT/SULLIVAN connection, there have been several new additions that I am checking now trying to find the information that may show that Margaret ? who married Patrick NORTON was, indeed, a SWELLIVANT/SULLIVAN and related to the Cornelius SWELLIVANT, (aka SULLIVAN,) in whose will her husband, son, etc. were mentioned. And it looks like the Dennis SWELLIVANT/SWILLIVANT, (aka SULLIVAN,) who sold land to Edmond KELLY of this NORTON - KELLY family group may be mentioned on one particular webpage that I just pulled up and interested in whether or not any of you on the lists connect any dots with this website and the information that I previously sent to you on the list whick connects with my ancestry from (Capt.) Alexander DONIPHAN, Sr. and 1st wife, Aimee PARTRIDGE through their daughter, Amy DONIPHAN, and 1st husband, (Captain) John KELLY, and their daughter, Ann KELLY, and her husband, William JENNINGS, Jr., (son of Mary WILLOUGHBY and William JENNINGS, Sr., (son of Margaret PAYNE, (d/o Margaret ROBINSON and John PAYNE,) and her 1st husband, John JENNINGS, Sr., (all of Old Rappahannock Co., VA with PAYNE, ROBINSON, and JENNINGS all immigrants from England to Old Rappahannock Co., VA, (lines in my paternal lineage,) and connecting with the PAYNE to RUST/RUSH, DEMOURVILLE, COX family that I descend through another marriage from COX in my LAM(P)KIN lineage in my HATTEN lineage that also connects back with the ALLERTON individual, Mat(t)ilda ALLERTON, who married my Samuel EARLE, I, (1st wife was Bridget HALE(S,)) and Mat(t)ilda ALLERTON EARLE later married William RUSH/RUST and then John BENNETT.....so many connections in Old Rap. Co., VA/Richmond Co., VA and Northumberland Co., VA/Westmoreland Co., VA and looks strongly as if there is a SWELLIVANT/SWILLIVANT/SULLIVAN connection as well for the NORTON and others including my COX family group that married into the LAM(P)KIN and DEMOURVILLE families and shown in the 2nd paragraph below: See the link and url below: Sullivans of Northern Neck, Virginia, Mid 1600s to mid 1700s http://pages.prodigy.net/dan_sullivan/main/noneck.htm I'm going to study it more very quickly but, already, there is mention of: << Dennis Sullivan of Richmond County The first mention of Dennis Sullivan is noted in Cavaliers and Pioneers - Abstracts of Virginia Land Patents and Grants in Volume V. Dennis Sullivant had 1446 acres in Rappahannock (later became Richmond), on southern most branch of Totuskey Creek which was a renewal of a patent dated 23 May 1660. In Index to Marriages of Old Rappahannock and Essex Counties, VA 1655-1900, Jean Sullivan widow of Dennis married James Clayton in 1689. This indicates Dennis died prior to 1689. The same source also has Sarah Sullivan daughter of Dennis marrying Henry Lenton. >> I would imagine that this is the Dennis SULLIVAN who sold the land to Edmond KELLY. and In this next paragraph from this same page it mentions: Vincent COX, Ann COX, and Win(n)ifred COX all whom are closely related to my direct ancestral grandmother, (right offhand I think it is my 8th or 9th,) Hannah COX who married George LAM(P)KIN and then later married 2nd husband, Dr. Samuel DEMOURVILLE, Sr.. Hannah COX and George LAM(P)KIN had land deeded over to them by Vincent COX, Sr. and it is one line of thought that Hannah COX was an older daughter by an earlier marriage for Vincent COX, Sr. but there is also a possibility that she was in some other way closely related to Vincent COX, Sr. who was the father of Ann COX, (md: John REDMAN,) and Vincent COX, Jr. who married Ann PAYNE, born: 1689 in Westmoreland Co., VA, who was the daughter of Frances POWELL CLEMENTS/or Frances CLEMENTS POWELL, (??,) and William PAYNE, Sr., (brother of my Margaret PAYNE, (md: # 1: John JENNINGS, Sr. & # 2: Christopher EDRINGTON, Sr.,) and William and Margaret being children of Margaret ROBINSON and John PAYNE, Sr.. And Vincent COX, Jr. and wife, Ann PAYNE, were the parents of Ann COX & Win(n)ifred COX, (whom are the women mentioned in the paragrapah from the website shown below or either the Ann COX might be the aunt of this Ann COX & Winifred COX,) and Win(n)ifred COX is the woman who married Matthew RUST/RUSH who was the son of Martha ? and Samuel RUST/RUSH, born: Abt. 1665 in the Northumberland/Westmoreland Co., VA area, son of Anne METCALF, (1st wife,) and William RUST/RUSH, born: Abt. 1634 in Suffolk County, England, died: Abt. Oct. 25, 1699 in Cople Parish, Westmoreland County, Virginia, who married as his 2nd wife, Mrs. Mat(t)ilda ALLERTON EARLE, (widow of 1st husband, Samuel EARLE, I, (my 7th great grandfather and son of Mary SYMMON(D)S and (Sir) John EARLE, I/Sr. who settled Yeocomico Plantation, Northumberland County, Virginia with Thomas HALE(S) believed to be the father of Bridget HALE(S) who was the 1st wife of Samuel EARLE, I, and whose son, Samuel EARLE, II married Phillis BENNETT, (my 6th great grandparents,) whom is believed to have been the daughter of the John BENNETT who married as the 3rd husband of the aforementioned Mrs. Mat(t)ilda ALLERTON EARLE RUST/RUSH becoming BENNETT who must have been closely related somehow to Isaac ALLERTON, Jr. who was in Cople Parish, Westmoreland County, VA at that time and married Elizabeth WILLOUGHBY whom I believe is somehow closely related to my paternal 7th great grandmother, Mary WILLOUGHBY, wife of William JENNINGS, Sr., whose son, William JENNINGS, Jr. married Ann KELLY, (d/o Amy DONIPHAN and (Capt.) John KELLY, son of Matthew KELLY and Penelope "Nelly" NORTON, daughter of Patrick NORTON and wife, Margaret ? whom I believe is named Margaret SWELLIVANT/SWILLIVANT/SULLIVAN and the daughter of the Cornelius SWELLIVANT mentioned in the 1st email to the list of Old Rappahannock County, VA who mentions Margaret's family significantly in his will,) and this William JENNINGS, Jr. being the son of John JENNINGS and Margaret PAYNE, as mentioned previously. And in this information below, I am also noticing the name of Richard BAKER who may be closely related to the Lawrence BAKER who married as the 2nd husband of Mrs. Penelope "Nelly" NORTON KELLY, (widow of Matthew KELLY,) and mother of (Capt.) John KELLY who married Amy DONIPHAN and also << The next mention of Dennis is in a deed left by his son Daniel Sullivan also of Richmond County dated September 4, 1694 from Richmond County DB 4 page 71. The deed says that Daniel got the land from his father Dennis Sullivan proving the connection between Dennis and Daniel. There is another deed at about the same time where Daniel buys land from Thomas Freshwater. Daniel Sullivan left a will in Northumberland County, listed in Virginia Colonial Abstracts, Volume 20, Northumbria Collection 1625-1720. Daniel Sullivan of St. Stephen's Parish, Northumberland will was dated 29 Aug. 1704 and was probated February 1704/5. In the will, a tract of land that Daniel bought from Thomas Freshwater is left to Phillip Rogers and Vincent Cox. This fact indicates that he is the same Daniel Sullivan that was in Richmond County. It also lists cousin George Hutton (under 21) cousin Rebecca Hutton and cousin Margaret. Richard Baker, Isabella Rogers, Ann Cox, James Roger, Winifred Cox are also mentioned. It was witnessed by James Thomas, Joseph Willgrass and Jno Kean. Daniel does not list wife, sons or daughters in the will,so no more is known of his family. One can infer that from the cousins listed that his father, Dennis, had other brothers or sisters. In summary, the family looks as follows: Dennis Sullivan, died before 1689 wife Jean who married second James Clayton in 1689, probably had brothers and sisters and had the following children: Daniel Sullivan b. before 1640 d. February, 1704/5 in Northumberland Co., VA Sarah Sullivan married Henry Lenton in 1672 >> *********** and then in a 3rd paragraph from the website is mentioned Thomas SORRELL which is probably Thomas SORRELL who married Elizabeth O'CANNY/O'CONNEY/lots of variations, who were the parents of the Anna SORRELL who was the 1st wife of my 5th great grandfather, (Major) Samuel EARLE, III, born: 1692 in Cople Parish, Westmoreland County, Virginia, (son of the aforementioned Phillis BENNETT and Samuel EARLE, I,) and Anna SORRELL and (Major) Samuel EARLE, III were the parents of the first son to be named Samuel EARLE, IV, born: 1727, died: 1752, md: Miss ? PERKINS, and other children, and then (Major) Samuel EARLE, III, (1st Member of the House of Burgesses elected from Frederick Co., VA, holding the seat that would later be held by (Gen./future Pres.) George WASHINGTON,) married his 2nd wife, Elizabeth HOL(D)BROOK, (d/o Mrs. Jannet PATTISON CON(N)YERS, (2nd wife,) and 2nd husband, Randolph "Randol" HOL(D)BROOK, Jr..,) and Elizabeth HOL(D)BROOK & (Major) Samuel EARLE, III were parents of his 2nd son to be named Samuel EARLE, IV, (RS,) born: 1760 in "Town Run" Plantation, Fauquier Co., VA, (my paternal 4th great grandfather, who married Tabitha WILLIAMS, and their daughter, Kitty EARLE, married Bailey JENNINGS, son of Rachel JORDAN and John JENNINGS, Sr., (RS,) son of Sarah MOORE? and Edward Salley JENNINGS, son of the Ann KELLY and William JENNINGS, Jr. mentioned above. <

    1. 1600s/VA/Old Rappahannock County & Irish?/English? NORTONs
    2. Hello, My name is Bellinda MYRICK-BARNETT and I am writing to many of the lists that I have belonged to for sometime now as well as some new ones that I have just added. I do not know that I have the right name yet for the SWELLIVANT/poss. SULLIVAN family group out of 1600s Virginia so if anyone can identify the correct spelling and if there is a Rootsweb list for that spelling...thank you. As well as, if you should see any areas for correction or if you have any additions, please let me know via the list and/or directly. Thanks. Will send this on now as is below....and will keep checking and get back with you if I find more to add to this at this time. Regarding possible English or Irish NORTON lineage arriving in early 1600s to Old Rappahannock County, Virginia, (later becoming Richmond County) Regarding the family of Patrick NORTON, wife, Margaret ?/SWELLIVANT?/SULLIVAN?, son, Thomas NORTON, and daughter, Penelope "Nelly" NORTON, who married Matthew KELLY, parents of (Capt.) John KELLY who married Amy DONIPHAN, (d/o Amie PARTRIDGE, (1st wife,) and (Capt.) Alexander DONIPHAN, Sr., and the JENNINGS-PAYNE-ROBINSON that their daughter, Ann KELLY married into in Richmond County, Virginia, to husband, William JENNINGS, Jr., son of Mary WILLOUGHBY and William JENNINGS, Sr., son of Margaret PAYNE, (d/o Margaret ROBINSON and John PAYNE,) and 1st husband, John JENNINGS, Sr., (immigrant from England to Old Rappahannock Co., VA as were Margaret ROBINSON and John PAYNE,) and Mrs. Margaret PAYNE JENNINGS later married 2nd husband, Christopher EDRINGTON, Sr..) Some of these different surnames are not mentioned more than once in this information; however, the value may be in the various connections that swirl between these different families. Please read the earlier post, immediately below, which is then followed immediately below by my response to his and, also, regarding, more specifically, my descent from Patrick NORTON of 1600's Old Rappahannock County, Virginia. In a message dated 10/8/2004 1:08:20 PM Central Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Norton Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Qi3.2ACIB/1848.2.1.1.1 Message Board Post: I want to connect with Barry Norton or Scott Norton or anyone doing research on Edward I. Norton of Co. Armagh, Ireland. Grimes-Rose. Down through Edward Norton, a Quaker in Pennsylvania and Mercer Norton in Virginia/S.C.,Kentucky. These are my 5th-6th GGrfa. [email protected] Dear JNorton, (also sending this to the NORTON list and others that may somehow connect including the KELLY and DONIPHAN lists,) Hello. I can't remember whether or not we have communicated before or not....and don't know that ours connect or that mine, with total certainty, is of Irish descent though the name of Patrick NORTON would certainly suggest it is so. My paternal 8th great grandmother was Penelope "Nelly" NORTON, born: Abt. 1653 prob. in Old Rappahannock County, Virginia, who married Matthew KELLY, born: abt. 1653 prob. in Old Rappahannock County, Virginia. Penelope "Nelly" NORTON, (who md: 2nd husband, Lawrence BAKER,) is believed to have had a brother named Thomas NORTON and they were the children of Margaret ? and Patrick NORTON, born: Aft. 1620 in some info. but a will puts his birth date apprx. 1641, poss. in England/Ireland or Old Rappahannock County, Virginia, died: Bef. November 07, 1688 in Old Rappahannock County, Virginia. I cannot, so far, find out anything on the names of the parents of this Patrick NORTON but shown as witnesses to his will which was proved November 07, 1688 in Old Rappahannock County, Virginia, were Ed./Edward?/Edmund? GEOFFRIES/JEFFRIES/JEFFREYS, William BELL, and Elizabeth CARMELL. In his will, family that were mentioned were his wife Margaret ?, son Thomas, (not yet of age,) and Nelly KELLY, (aka Penelope "Nelly" NORTON who married Matthew KELLY.) There is also a will of a man named Cornelius SWELLIVANT, (have seen various spellings for this family group including later being spelled SULLIVAN,) himself of Old Rappahannock County, Virginia in Will and Deed Book 1, proved 19 November 1673, in which is mentioned, "to John BURRAGE all land, tools, boat, bed, & trunk, to Thomas NORTON, (the son of Patrick NORTON,) 350 acres of land, and after the demise of Thomas NORTON and John BURRAGE that the land go to Patrick NORTON, to John KELLY, (aka (Capt.) John KELLY, (son of Matthew KELLY,) 175 acres of land the said Matthew KELLY lives on, in the meantime may put it to what use he pleasures & after the demise of John KELLY, (aka (Capt.) John KELLY, son of Matthew KELLY,) the land fall to Matthew KELLY, his father, (I presume distinguishing between the Matthew KELLY that was the brother of (Capt.) John KELLY and their father, Matthew KELLY, as well as the Matthew KELLY who was the son of (Capt.) John KELLY and Amy DONIPHAN, (the daughter of Amie PARTRIDGE, (1st wife,) and (Capt.) Alexander DONIPHAN, Sr., (with another son of Amy DONIPHAN and (Capt.) John KELLY being named Alexander Doniphan KELLY.)) (The will continuing say, " What cattle John BURRAGE shall receive Cornel. SWELLIVANT, (Cornelius,) he is to leave so many in kind to Thos. NORTON, (Thomas,) to John DOWTY I leave 1 Dowlas shirt, 1 pair Kersey breeches, 1 coate and 3 pewter dishes. To Pat. NORTON, (Patrick,) my hangar." The will that puts the birthdate of Patrick NORTON at approximately 1641 is that of Henry CREIGHTON dated January 26, 1676, proved September 06, 1677 in a deposition where Patrick NORTON gives his age as 35 or thereabouts.....and a brother of his is shown as Edmond NORTON, age 30 yrs. or thereabouts, born approximately 1652. The aforementioned Cornelius SWELLIVANT must be, it would appear to me, the father, (most likely,) of Margaret ?, wife of Patrick NORTON, since he leaves a considerable amount of land to Thomas NORTON in 350 acres that would then go to Thomas's father, Patrick NORTON, and husband of the aforementioned Margaret ?, (poss. Margaret SWELLIVANT, daughter? of Cornelius SWELLIVANT,) and in case of his death to the husband of his daughter, Penelope, who was (Capt.) John KELLY, and so on....and it would appear most logical that the aforementioned John BURRAGE was probably the husband of another daughter of Margaret ?/SWELLIVANT? and Patrick NORTON who was the sister of Penelope "Nelly" NORTON. This is still speculation but I would greatly imagine that this is the case or, at least, that there is some very close family relationship. Let me know if you think that this information might connect with your NORTON family group. Looking for anything I can find as there is not much out there, so far, regarding this family....but a variant spelling of any of these names might yield something more. Sincerely, Bellinda Myrick-Barnett

    1. Christopher Edrington m. Margaret Payne? ca 1632
    2. Hi all, Can anyone tell me whether it's been proved that Christopher Edrington's wife Margaret was a Payne? I can trace my line to HIM, but can't be sure of HER. If she was Margaret Payne, has it been proved that she was daughter of John of Old Rapp? If she is daughter of John, has it been proved that his wife Margaret was a Robinson? If Christopher married into the John Payne family for sure, then--obviously--I have beaucoup "new" ancestors to look at and can revel in Patrick's Payne website and wisdom! But I've never been sure of a definitive link... Can anyone help? thanks! Cyndi in Baltimore

    2. Hello, I am sending this to several of the lists that connect to the following information: Does anyone know if the lineage of the Augustine's WARNER, I and II and/or MIldred READE or Margaret TOWNELEY happen to connect in the early 1600's in Virginia, probably Rappahannock Co. or ?, with the families of WILLOUGHBY, JENNINGS, PAYNE, ROBINSON or EDRINGTON? I don't know that there is a definite connection but suspect that there might be but my 7th great grandparents, Mary WILLOUGHBY, born: abt. 1670 in ?, (parents: ??,) and William JENNINGS, Sr., born: abt. 1668 in Sittenburne Parish, Rappahannock Co., VA, lived later in Richmond Co., VA, and I descend through their son, William JENNINGS, Jr., born: bet. 1695-1700 prob. in Rappahannock Co., VA, died: 1733 in Richmond Co., VA, who had a brother named Augustine JENNINGS, born: abt. 1708 either in Rappahannock or Richmond Co., VA, who married Hannah WILLIAMS whose WILLIAMS family may connect to the WILLIAMS - BALL - WASHINGTON - WARNER families but not sure. I descend from two of the WILLIAMS lines in early 1600's VA as well...the BILLINGTON - WILLIAMS and PEMBERTON - WILLIAMS lines that later in the JENNINGS family tree married into the EARLE - WILLIAMS - HOLBROOK - SORRELL - BENNETT - HALE - ALLERTON - SYMONS/SYMONDS - PARKER - HOWELL - MERIWETHER - LEWIS - ELLZEY/ELLSEY, COLLINS, BRIGHT, MYRICK, HERRINGTON, GRANTHAM, STUCKEY, HOWELL # 2, DICKSON/DICKERSON, PROCTOR? etc. families. I am very interested in communicating with anyone who might have any clues as to the possibility of where the name for Augustine JENNINGS might come into his family. Thanks. Sincerely, Bellinda Myrick - Barnett

    2. Hello, Re: PARTRIDGE - WILSON - WILLIAMS - KELLY - STOKES - BELL - DONIPHAN - JENNINGS - WILLOUGHBY - PAYNE - EDRINGTON - ROBINSON - RIVETT - EIDSON/EDISON - COLCLOUGH surnames that connect in 1600's - 1700's England and/or Virginia. I want to lead this query by saying that I am very grateful to Linda KELLY (KELL) and John COLCLOUGH for recently sending me information that has helped uncover some missing pieces of information in my JENNINGS - KELLY - DONIPHAN - PARTRIDGE ancestry for which I have been searching. I am looking for any information on the following, (below listed,) probable PARTRIDGE sisters and their various marriages and family connections, (listed below,) and searching for whom their parents were as well as more information about the connecting families including the WILSON/WILLSON line and a possible connecting WILLIAMS line for my 4th great grandmother, (wife of Samuel EARLE, IV, (Sgt./Rev. War,) born: 1766 in Fauquier Co., VA,) who was Tabitha WILLIAMS, born: 1766, daughter of Catherine "Caty" ? and George WILLIAMS who is thought to be the son of Anne WILLIAMS and Roger WILLIAMS who is descended from James WILLIAMS, born: abt. 1572 in St. Albans, Hertfordshire, England, and his wife, Alice PEMBERTON, born: 18 Feb 1564 in St. Albans, Hertfordshire, England, died: 01 Aug 1634, London, England, (mother: Katherine STOKES, died: aft. 1578, father: Robert PEMBERTON, born: abt. 1520, died: 16 Jul 1578. Specifically this is regarding the ancestry of my 6th great grandmother, Ann KELLY, born: abt. 1696 in VA, (who married William JENNINGS, Jr.,) and Ann KELLY's father was John KELLY, born: abt. 1660, died: 04 May 1715, (mother: Penelope ?, father: Matthew KELLY, born: abt. 1640,) and Ann KELLY's mother was Amy DONIPHAN, born: abt. 1662, died: 04 Feb 1729, (md. 2nd husband, Edward RANSDELL.) Amy DONIPHAN's parents were (Captain) Alexander DONIPHAN, born: 1640 in Plymouth, Devonshire, England, died: Feb 1717, and he was a merchant in England and then in Westmoreland Co., VA, and his 1st wife, Aimee ? (Captain) Alexander DONIPHAN's 2nd wife was Margaret MOTT and his 3rd wife was Susannah ? (The above mentioned husband of Ann KELLY who was William JENNINGS, Jr. was born: bet. 1695 - 1700 in VA and died: 1732 in Richmond Co., VA, and he was the son of Mary WILLOUGHBY, born: abt. 1670, (parents: ??,) and her husband, William JENNINGS, Sr., born: abt. 1668 in VA, father: John JENNINGS, born: abt. 1633 in England, immigrated to Old Rappahannock, VA, and mother: Margaret PAYNE, (mother: (probably but not proven to be,) Margrett ROBINSON, (father: Richard ROBINSON,) father: John PAYNE, born: abt. 1615 in England, immigrated to Old Rappahannock, VA,) and Margaret PAYNE's 2nd husband was Christopher EDRINGTON. I had written the [email protected] list asking if anyone had any other information regarding the ancestry of (Captain) Alexander DONIPHAN and his 1st wife, Aimee ? One individual wrote back saying that (President) Harry S. TRUMAN was, also, descended from (Captain) Alexander DONIPHAN. I also found some more information on a couple of websites...just brief entries regarding (Captain) Alexander DONIPHAN being the ancestor of (President) Harry S. TRUMAN and, also, (Colonel) William B. TRAVIS, (of Alamo fame,) and I wrote the owner, John COLCOUGH, of one of the websites mainly featuring COLCOUGH family information that mentioned very briefly regarding (Captain) Alexander DONIPHAN's wife, Aimee/Amy, as being named either RIVETT or PARTRIDGE and that she was the sister of a Mary whose surname was either RIVETT or PARTRIDGE who married John COLCOUGH whose lands were built what is now known as Quantico Marine Base. I wrote John COLCOUGH asking if he might possibly have any additional information regarding Aimee/Amy ?, wife of (Captain) Alexander DONIPHAN. John COLCOUGH writes below in the forwarded email indicating that the wife of (Captain) Alexander DONIPHAN was, indeed, named Amy PARTRIDGE and that she had sisters named (1.) Sarah PARTRIDGE, (md. Richard WILSON,) (2.) Mary PARTRIDGE, (md. John COLCOUGH,) (3.) Elizabeth PARTRIDGE, (md. Mr. ? YOUNG.) And Mr. COLCOUGH cites the source as researcher, Mary Lou RUTH, whose documentation of the sisters' names comes from The Lord Mayor's Office in London in a deposition of 1662. Interestingly enough, there is another PARTRIDGE connection over on my mother's side of the family. (The JENNINGS - KELLY - DONIPHAN - PARTRIDGE is my father's side.) From my maternal grandmother's line I descend from LAMKIN - COX - HATTEN/HATTON lineage.....from Jeremiah LAMKIN who was born abt. 1595 in Middlesex, England, died: 1660 in Surry Co., VA, and he was the father of sons, Robert, William and Thomas LAMKIN who was born in abt. 1620 in Northumberland Co., VA and married Elenor ? in abt. 1625 and their children included their son, George LAMKIN, born: abt. 1650, died: abt. 1691, who married Hannah COX, born: abt. 1652 in Westmoreland Co., VA, died: Sep 1744 and she married as her 2nd husband, Samuel DEMOURVILLE, (sp?,) and they had 4 children. Hannah COX is related somehow to Vincent COX, possibly a daughter by a first marriage or a neice or such, and George LAMKIN and Hannah COX had 5 children. Of the 5 children of Hannah COX and George LAMKIN were Joseph, Peter, James, John and George. I descend from James LAMKIN, born: abt. 1675/1680, DIED: 02 April 1736, also shown sometimes as John LAMKIN.....so not sure where the confusion comes in yet....and the son, George LAMKIN, II, born: abt. 1680, died: 1707, married Jane ASHTON who married as her 2nd husband a man named Richard PARTRIDGE in 1728. It is from James/John LAMKIN and wife, Jane LEWIS that it appears that my Lewis LAMKIN who married Mary LEWIS, (daughter of Lewis LEWIS,) descends and they were the parents of Mary LAMKIN who married Peter Lewis HATTEN and they were the parents of Lewis Lamkin HATTEN who married Sarah "Sally" UNDERWOOD and their son, William HATTEN, born: 1800 in Tar River, Nash Co., NC, married Frances Lucretia "Patsy" LOTT, born: abt. 1802 in AL, daughter of Absalom LOTT and Martha Jane Dorsey LIGHTFOOT, born: abt. 1763, father: Philip LIGHTFOOT. I am interested in finding out if the family of the above mentioned Richard PARTRIDGE who married Jane ASHTON (LAMKIN) is the same as that of my above mentioned 9th great grandmother, Amy/Aimee PARTRIDGE, who married (Captain) Alexander DONIPHAN. And, of course, looking to find the names of the parents of this Amy/Aimee PARTRIDGE. Anyway, I am thrilled to have a name for Aimee/Amy now.....PARTRIDGE. And we have our PARTRIDGE in a Pear Tree just in time for the Holidays as it came in late on New Year's Day! <lol> Looking forward to hearing from anyone with connecting information. Thanks. Happy New Year! Interestingly enough, in one of my other lines....trying to remember which right offhand...which was back in early Virginia....one of my ancestors married a PARTRIDGE after the 1st spouse, my ancestor, had died. I think it is in my HATTEN/HATTON lineage.....or one of the surnames directly connecting at that time. Perhaps the LAMKIN or COX. I will look through information and get back with you if I find anything as there might be a connection to Amy PARTRIDGE's family as so very many of my various lines that I have found in Virginia in the 1600's - 1700's were related to each other then and prior to coming to America. 2. In a message dated 00-11-13 19:22:10 EST, on [email protected] there was writen: << Wm. Williams, from Wales, a colonel in the Revolutionary war and an officer in Gen. George Washington's body guard." > Does anyone on the list connect or know more about this William Williams? >> (and the information below:) Hello, I, too, would be interested in knowing more about this William WILLIAMS as he might, possibly, connect to one or both of my WILLIAMS lines. There are family connections to General/President George WASHINGTON in other lines in my tree that connect to my 1st WILLIAMS line, one of which is George WILLIAMS, born: early 1700's, wife: Catherine "Caty" ?, whose daughter, Tabitha WILLIAMS, born: 1766 in VA, married Samuel EARLE, IV, (Sgt./Rev. War,) born: 1760 in Fauquier Co., VA, son of Elizabeth HOLBROOK, born: abt. 1733, (mother: Jannet/Jeanette PATTISON - CONYERS, (1st husband: Henry CONYERS,) father: Randolph "Randall" HOLBROOK, Jr., (2nd husband of Jannet PATTISON - CONYERS,) and Elizabeth was the 2nd wife of her husband/father of Samuel EARLE, IV, (Sgt./Rev. War,) born: 1760, who was Samuel EARLE, III, (Major,) born: 1692, (1st wife: Anna SORRELL, (they were the parents of the first son of Samuel EARLE, III, to be named Samuel EARLE, IV, who was born in 1727, who was born over 33 years before his brother by the same name. His mother, Anna SORRELL, and husband, Samuel EARLE, III, were, also, the parents of Anna Sorrell EARLE who married as the 1st wife of Charles BUCK, I, whose 2nd wife was Letitia SORRELL, aunt of Anna Sorrell EARLE and Letitia was the sister of Anna Sorrell EARLE's mother, Anna SORRELL, (the 1st Mrs. Samuel EARLE, III, Major.) The 2nd son of Samuel EARLE, III to be named Samuel EARLE, IV, who was the Sgt. in the Rev. War and was born in 1760 and who married Tabitha WILLIAMS were the parents of my 3rd great grandmother, Kitty EARLE, born: bet. 1790 - 1795 in VA, married Bailey JENNINGS, born: abt. 1789 in Virginia, son of Rachel JORDAN, (parents: ??,) John JENNINGS, (Rev. War,) born: abt. 1748 in Richmond Co., VA, son of a woman who is possibly named Sarah MORE/MOORE?, parents: ??, and her husband: Edward Salley JENNINGS, Sr., born: Jan 1720 in Richmond Co., VA who was the son of Ann KELLY, born: abt. 1696 in Richmond Co., VA, died: abt. 1734/35, (mother: Amy DONIPHAN, (father: Alexander DONIPHAN, mother: Aimee ?, (1st wife,) ) and father: John KELLY,) and Amy DONIPHAN (KELLY's) 2nd husband was Edward RANSDELL,) and Ann KELLY's husband and father of Edward Salley JENNINGS, Sr., was William JENNINGS, Jr., born: bet. 1695 - 1700, died: 07 Jan 1732/abt. 1733, (mother: Mary WILLOUGHBY, father: William JENNINGS, Sr., born: abt. 1668, (mother: Margaret PAYNE, (2nd husband: Christopher EDRINGTON,) mother: possibly Margrett ROBINSON, (father: Richard ROBINSON,) father: (Sir?) John PAYNE, born: abt. 1615 in England, immigrated to Old Rappahannock, VA,) and father/1st husband of Margaret PAYNE: John JENNINGS, born: abt. 1633, immigrated to Old Rappahannock, VA. The above mentioned, (my 5th great grandfather,) Edward Salley JENNINGS, Sr., born: Jan 1720 in Richmond Co., VA, was 'bound out' to his uncle, Augustine JENNINGS, in his mother's will after her death in abt. 1734/5 when she was in her 30's and Edward was abt. 15 years old. His younger brother, Calathan JENNINGS, was also bound out to Augustine JENNINGS as well. Augustine JENNINGS' wife was Hannah WILLIAMS who is thought by some to be the daughter of James WILLIAMS or, in the opinion of Terri SMITH, from whom some of my additional WILLIAMS - JENNINGS information came, it is quite possible that Hannah WILLIAMS is the daughter of Honor? and husband, Jonas WILLIAMS of Prince William Co., VA. The above mentioned Hannah WILLIAMS will was witnessed by an Alexander D. KELLY that would appear to be the Alexander Doniphan KELLY who was the brother of the above mentioned Ann KELLY, (Mrs. William JENNINGS, Jr.) my 6th great grandmother, (children of John KELLY and Amy DONIPHAN.) In information also sent to me by Terri SMITH there is a connection in documents in transactions involving a Thomas and Rose JORDAN and William WILLIAMS, Paul WILLIAMS and George WILLIAMS who would appear, most likely, to be my 5th great grandfather, George WILLIAMS, husband of Catherine "Caty" ?, and father of my 4th great grandmother, Tabitha WILLIAMS, who as stated above married Samuel EARLE, IV, (Sgt./Rev. War,) born: 1760 in Fauquier Co., VA, and were the parents of my 3rd great grandmother, Kitty EARLE, who married Bailey JENNINGS. Kitty EARLE had a sister whose middle name was EWING and I wonder whether or not the Catherine "Caty" ? mentioned above as the wife of George WILLIAMS might have possibly been named Catherine "Caty" EWING/EWINGS/EWEN......anyone have a thought? The above mentioned Bailey JENNINGS, born: 1789 in Virginia, was the son of Rachel JORDAN and John JENNINGS, (Rev. War,) born: abt. 1748 in Richmond Co., VA, and I think that it is highly possibly that Rachel JORDAN may be related to the above mentioned Thomas and Rose JORDAN involved in transactions with the WILLIAMS men mentioned. Also, in the will of the above mentioned, Ann KELLY, (Mrs. William JENNINGS, Jr.,) was a William JORDAN who, most likely, connects with the Rose ? and Thomas JORDAN mentioned. I believe, also, that these JORDAN individuals probably are somehow related to my 4th great grandmother, Rachel JORDAN and would be interested in any information regarding that JORDAN family. And I would like to find more information regarding this WILLIAMS family which is on my father's side of the family. Also, on my mother's side of the family is William WILLIAMS, born: abt. 1790 in Maryland, and his parents are completely unknown to me. His wife is only known as Elizabeth ? who was born in Ohio.....probably abt. 1800 or so.....and their daughter, Clarissa "Clara" WILLIAMS was born abt. 1840 either in Catahoula Parish, LA, (married Hudson/Hutson H. SLAUGHTER, born: 1844 in Greene/Pickens Co., AL,) where the family was prior to 1840 or in Franklin Parish, LA where the family was from abt. 1840 forward. Family is to be found later in Liddieville, Franklin Parish, LA where some of the WILLIAMS - SLAUGHTER - MUNN (KING) - LEE individuals are buried at the Ogden Cemetery, Liddieville, Franklin Parish, Louisiana. I am looking to find out more information on the WILLIAMS lineage of the above mentioned William WILLIAMS, born: abt. 1790 in Maryland, migrated to Louisiana before 1840 and more information on the parents, siblings and ancestors of the above mentioned George WILLIAMS, born: early 1700's probably in Virginia, maybe Westmoreland Co., VA, who married Catherine "Caty" ? that I think is related to the above mentioned Hannah WILLIAMS and her father, either Jonas WILLIAMS, (and wife, Honor ?,) or James WILLIAMS. Any information would be greatly appreciated and I am delighted to share any and all information that I have on any of these lines with anyone. In advance, I thank you. Sincerely, Bellinda Myrick - Barnett

Regarding my interest in the AMMON/AMMONS lineage......in the above information my grandfather, James Martin "Jim" MYRICK, born: 1892 in Simpson Co., MS, (who married Allie Artimissa PARKER, born: 1892 in Simpson Co., MS,) was the son of Harriet Katherine "Hattie" HA(E)RRINGTON, born: 1868 in MS, (mother: Rebecca Jane DICKSON/DICKERSON, born: 1826 in ?, (parents: ??,) and Isom/Isham Daniel HA(E)RRINGTON, born: 1828 in Covington or Lawrence Co., MS, (mother: Harriet STUCKEY, born: abt. 1802, father: John STUCKEY/STUCKY/STUCKI, (which may connect with an AMMON line out of Switzerland in the 1700's that came to America,) and Enoch HERRINGTON, born: abt. 1795 in New Hanover Co., NC, son of William HERRINGTON, Sr., born: bef. 1755 in Craven Co., NC, son of Charles HA(E)RRINGTON, son of John HE(A)RRINGTON,)) and Harriet Katherine "Hattie" HA(E)RRINGTON's husband, (who was also her 3rd cousin,) Calvin Pierce "Callie" MYRICK, born: 1858 in Jasper Co., MS, who was the son of William H. "Bill/Billy" MYRICK, born: 1827 in Jasper Co., MS, (mother: Elizabeth PIERCE, born: 1790 in South Carolina, (parents: ??,) and father: William MYRICK, born: sometime prior to 1790, parents: ??, their family was in Georgia for many years prior to emigrating to Mississippi in abt. 1820 through Alabama,) and Phoebe Catherine HERRINGTON, born: bet. 1834 - 1836, who was the daughter of William HERRINGTON, Jr., born: abt. 1794 in New Hanover Co., NC, brother of the above mentioned Enoch HERRINGTON, born: abt. 1795 in New Hanover Co., NC, and, also, the son of the above mentioned William HERRINGTON, Sr., born: bet. 1755 in Craven Co., NC, son of Charles, son of John HA(E)RRINGTON,) and William HERRINGTON's wife who was named Sina/Sena/Cynthia Ammons GRANTHAM, born: abt. 1800 on the Robeson Co., NC/SC border, (daughter of Elizabeth AMMONS and Richard GRANTHAM, Jr., son of Richard GRANTHAM, Sr., son of Catherine PROCTOR, (daughter of Catherine OWEN/OWENS and Joshua PROCTOR, (who appears to descend from John PROCTOR of Jamestowne,) and husband: Edward GRANTHAM, II, (father: Edward GRANTHAM, II.) The above mentioned Elizabeth AMMONS appears to be the Elizabeth AMMONS who was born in 1771 in Robeson Co., NC whose father was John (2) AMMONS, II, born: 1740 in South Carolina, died: 1795, (mother: ??, father: John (1) AMMON, I, and her mother was Elizabeth PARKER, born: abt./aft. 1740 in North Carolina, parents: ?? I am interested in whom the ancestors are of this AMMONS/AMMON and PARKER line were and interested in the possible connections between the AMMON line that connects with my paternal grandmother's JENNINGS - PAYNE family through the EDRINGTON - AMMON lineage and how it may possibly connect with the AMMONS/AMMON - GRANTHAM - PROCTOR - HE(A)RRINGTON - STUCKEY/STUCKY/STUCKI - DICKSON/DICKERSON - MYRICK - PIERCE lineage of my paternal grandfather. This particular STUCKEY/STUCKY/STUCKI line is thought to have emigrated from Switzerland briefly into Germany in order to more easily emigrate to America in the 1700's. There is an AMMON/AMMONS line out of Switzerland that it might connect with. Also, the MYRICK/MEYRICK/MEURIG lineage is out of Wales as IS the JEFFERSON/JEAFFRESON/GEAFFRESONNE lineage and many of the others. It is also possible that the above mentioned Elizabeth PARKER who married John (2) AMMONS might connect to my 3rd great grandfather, Jerimiah "Jerry" PARKER, born: 1795 in Maryland, but still searching for his parents. Looking forward to hearing from you. In advance, I thank you for any help you might offer. Sincerely, Bellinda Myrick - Barnett
