    3. 1. For Russell. I do not have anything more that would be useful in figuring out the family of Upton I, who d. 1771. I decided that the best place to park Upton II was in this family, but I have no proof to support it. Three children seems a very small family for that age. Upton did deed some land to E. Suggett a year before his will, and it mentions a patent to Upton Edmondson & Drury Robertson. That could be the younger Upton, but it does not say so. Incidentally, that automatic inheritance by the eldest son would work only if there was no will, I believe. 2. For Russell also. I very much doubt that any of those children of Upton II or Benjamin or whoever had a middle name. Middle names did not really become fashionable until a generation or so later. If any of them did have a middle name, it does not show in any records I have seen. 3) Still for Russell. The Benjamin will is 1775 for sure. As for the administrators, the Upton there would be the one I call Upton II, who died in Lunenburg Co. in 1812, not Upton III who indeed was not born until 1757. The Christopher Robertson is probably an older one, probably father of the one who m. Constant in 1787 (unless it was a December-May wedding). He is referred to as Christopher Robertson, Gent., meaning that he was a person of high standing. It would not surprise me a bit if he is the husband of Mary, d/o Upton I. . 4) For Charolette Sage. Sorry, the William who is s/o Upton or Benjamin is not William Sterling, and is accounted for in Montgomery Co. TN. Interestingly enough Sterling is a middle name for several people in this family, but no William Sterling. Finally, as far as I know, there are no books on this family, and not much in published sources. A good dig in the country records of Lunenburg Co. and its surrounding counties is needed. I did such a dig a good many years ago, but may well have missed things since I was actually looking for a couple of other families and just noted Edmondsons when I ran across them. Best to all, Howard V. Jones
