    3. Hi gang: 1. Primarily for Gerry. I woke up this morning thinking about your Edmondsons and wondering if maybe I'd given you a bum steer yesterday. I have no proof for giving all those kids to Upton Edmondson II, and as I thought about it, I realized that it is perfectly possible that their father was a Benjamin (of whom there are too many in this family). There is a Benjamin, son of Upton I, who could qualify as the father of those kids. I do not have much on him: R-1-3-3-1: Benjamin Edmondson Lunenburg Co. VA, DB XVI, 14 Apr. 1791. Benjamin/Mary Edmondson to James Scott Lunenburg Co., WB IV, 91. 13 June 1775. Will of Benjamin Edmondson in court, but is rejected as false. Administration granted to Mary Edmondson, Upton Edmondson and Christopher Robertson, Gent. Ibid., 115, Inventory. Unfortunately, the will is not transcribed. The fact that Upton Edmondson and Christopher Robertson are admrs. make this probably the will of this Benjamin. Now note this: DB XII, 70. 1807. Mary Edmondson, a deed of gift to daughter Tabithy. I don't know of any other Tabitha than the one on the list sent yesterday, so it makes more sense that her mother was Mary, and that fits the widow of Benjamin. Alas, somewhere in the back of my mind is a hint that I actually found proof of this somewhere some time, but I did not put it in my notes, so have no idea what it was. 2. Primarily for Russell. Thanks for the data you sent: I rather think that my data came, somehow, from the same source. I see you are aware that John Blackwell m. Polly Edmondson, 5 July 1796. John Blackwell was the admr. of the estate of Upton II in 1812, so there was some relationship there no doubt. The Mary, b. 1775, I listed as a daughter of Upton II (now maybe d/o Benjamin) fits nicely for marrying John Blackwell, but I have a note that family sources suggested she m. a Dunn, and there is also an 1814 marriage to Michael Walker by a Polly, with a Benjamin Edmondson as bondsman. One thing is clear, however: the Polly who m. John Blackwell is somewhere close to Upton II. All those children can be Upton's. I gave them to Upton II, who didn't died until 1812, and who was, I THINK, a son of Upton I, who died in 1771. There are certainly other and later Uptons. The Samuel who m. Nancy Jones I would say is fairly certainly the Samuel last on the list of children of Upton II or Benjamin. 3. Let me put it on record that I am no expert on this family, which is not at all mine. I just picked up data over the years and am glad to share it when I can. But there's still a LOT of work to be done to get it accurate. Please keep me posted of progress or lack thereof. Best, Howard V. Jones
