    3. Hi, Julia, Yes, he/they are "Edmonson" on one of the censuses, maybe 1870 in St. Louis, MO, but I have never seen him as "Charles", always "Charles E." His mother is simply R. Edmonson on that one census. He is listed as Charles Edward Edmondson, res St. Louis, MO, born Ohio, in his military papers. But Boanerges R. is listed as birthplace Ohio on his military papers. I always thought him to be born in St. Louis, but I suppose they got around, living on the river highway. Also, there was an Edward Edmondson, sibling on the 1860 census--Charles E., Richard H. dec'd, Boanerges R., Edward, Edwind, and Emma on the 1860 census. That's the only time Edward and Emma appear on a census. But Emma is missing on the 1870 and 1880 census, yet dies in the Female Hospital in 1884 after being confined there for six weeks. 3. Well, yesterday I was in the Mobile, AL Genealogical Library, and I recall specifically seeing an Emma and an Edward Edmonson in some of the bibliographies in which I was looking. I was looking in South Carolina and Georgia for the most part. The rest was in Lousiana and Texas. However, I cannot recall exactly where it was. The next time I go there, I will look specifically for those two names, as I know that I saw them there.
