    3. Dear All: I promised to say more about the Benjamin Edmondson family of Blount Co. TN, and here I am. I'm stumped as to identifying that Benjamin. Some comments anyway. 1. The first marriage, to Keziah Hood, may well be true, but the second is probably not to Martha Tomlinson. That marriage came in 1791, too late, and the bondsman was Benjamin Organ. Organ m. 1789 Susanna Edmondson, d/o Upton, and since Susanna had a brother Benjamin, b. 9 Oct. 1770, I would bet that Benjamin was s/o Upton. Landon C. Bell, The Old Free State, (1905), II, 210, thinks that this is the right Benjamin and gives him a son Upton A. --but without proof. Of course that doesn't rule out the possibility of a MARY Tomlinson who m. Benjamin of Blount Co. 2. I don't know much about the Benjamin who m. Keziah Hood: what data I have listed under him could belong to almost any Benjamin, with two exceptions, both from Mecklenburg Co. records: DB XIV, 567, 11 Jan. 1812. Benjamin Edmondson to daughters Prudence, Barbara, Agnes, Ann Eliza and William Rudd, husband of Elizabeth Rudd my daughter. Furniture and livestock D B XV, 13. 19 Oct. 1812. Benjamin (x) Edmondson/Keziah to Frederick Ivey, rec. 19 Oct. 1812. The second deed obviously belongs to this Benjamin. It could mark when he was selling out in Mecklenburg Co. preparing to move on to Blount Co. To my surprise, I find that the first deed almost certainly belongs to this Benjamin too. One of the daughters is named Barbara -- an unusual name for this family.-- and this Barbara would presumably be of the right age &c. to be the Barbary of the Blount Co. will. But that's not all! I just looked at Blount Co. marriages, and lo and behold! Agnes Edmondson m. 8 Feb. 1822, Robert Finley Ann Eliza Edmondson m. 28 Aug. 1823, David George Now Barbara surely suggested a match, but when we find 3 out of the 4 unmarried daughters, and all with names that are not exactly run of the mill, in Blount Co., I think the match is clear and definite. Now I wonder what happened to Prudcene? So it seems that Benjamin in his will mentions only 3 out of 8 children, which seems extraordinary, to put it mildly. But which Benjamin is he? Benjamin is a common name in the Essex Co. Edmondsons, but all of a sudden there aren't very many who qualify as possibilities for the Benjamin who died in Blount Co. in 1823 In fact, I only see the one, and I am beinning to wonder if there are more whom we have not yet discovered. But that has to be all for today. I did put all the Blount Co. data about Benjamin into my format, and will be glad to send it to anyone who wants to look at it. Nothing much new there -- I just tried to stick together everything I could glean from what you others have done. Best, Howard.
