    3. Charlotte, I seem to remember believing that Mary was a Hightower. I had this line pretty much figured out, but had a computer crash & lost much of my data. Howard Jones & Sheila Anderson-Lewis put a transcript of Ths.'s will in the archives at Rootsweb on 17 Apr. 2000. Ths. mentions his wife, Grissell, & youngest son, Benj., along with other unnamed ch. Lunen. Co. DBk VII:190 shows that the 307 a. tract that Ths. left his sons, was divided 14 May 1761 by Richard, Wm., & Saml. Son Benj. rec'd the 100 a. home plantation. This would indicate that both Ths. & Grissell were d. by 1761. Ths. was the son of Benj., Sr. & his wife, Margaret. It is believed that she was an Underwood, because of the Underwood-Upton tie. LUNENBURG THE OLD FREE STATE is the source for the 4 ch of Benj., Sr.: Ths., Benj. (Jr.), Upton & Mary. Tyler's magazine gives the date of Benj., Sr.'s will as 23 Nov. 1726, pr'd 21 Nov. 1727, Essex Co. According to LUNEN. (above) Upton's will was dated 25 May 1771 & pr'd 24 Oct. 1771 in Amelia Co, VA. He named wife, Mary, son Benj., dau Constance wife of Edgecomb Suggett, Mary (m. a Robertson) & gch Constance Robertson. It's possible that the Benj., who m. Martha Tomlinson, was the son of Upton. I believe that this family was discussed in Mar./Apr. exchanges that should be in the Rootsweb EDMONDSON-L archives. Nancy Edmondson Wood
