Dear EDM- researchers- Just got back from a fruitful trip to Iowa and Nebraska continuing my search for Edmisten/Edmundson ancestors. I believe I found the death record for my great-great grandfather, William Edmisten/Edmundson in the courthouse at Sidney Iowa. (What a thrill! It was in the oldest book of death records they had.) He was listed as "Wm Edmundson" and he died Dec. 9, 1885 in Scott township, Fremont county Iowa. He was listed as a farmer, married, and had been a resident of Iowa for one year. (Thurman Iowa was where his son, my ggf got married 5 years before so I thought it made sense that he moved closer to his son & family.) It said he was born in Ohio. (We had thought he was born in Hancock county Indiana.) He was 73 years, 11 months, and 3 days old. If I did the math right, that makes his birth day January 6, 1812. I still do not know anything about his wife. His children were William Alexander (b.1839), James Wesley (b.1842), George Washington (my ggf)(b.1846), and daughters Rachel, Catherine, and Susan (no dates known). Does my William ring a bell with anyone, possibly of the Edmundson persuasion in the Ohio (or Indiana) area? Any help sincerely appreciated. Thank you! Carol Edmisten
