Nancy, I haven't investigated the Richard and Lizzie, and James of the cemetary listings I sent. I was more interested in the early ones that could possibly directly connect with my Philip b. 1801. Basically, all info that I think might help me find Philip's parents seems to disappear by 1840. Have nothing then to try to connect to the later Edm. til I bust down this brick wall. (I have run into a lot of Richard's - but not an H. - I am wanting to find out about the one on the 1840 Bedford County, TN Census) As to Benjamin Edm., A researcher sent me a message on GenForum quite some time ago - regarding possible parentage of Philip - two familes came up with possibilities as parents, unfortunately, as Philip was not in her line - she didn't have more than notations about them. (Both connected to Essex and Halifax counties in VA) I have little access to info there - and don't really know what and where to ask -especially as MY Philip always puts on the Census, that he was born in South Carolina (another reason for not immediately jumping into VA) I keep thinking my break is going to come in TN or SC. The families this researcher gave me to check were the following: John Edmondson who was married to Catherine Dunn named a son Philip Edmondson. (cannot locate any source to show a son named Philip) Benjamin Edmondson who married Sarah-x- also had a son, Philip Edmondson, born between 1761-1761. (cannot find a Benjamin with ANY wife and a mention of a Philip) Have searhed info on the early Philip Par Edmondson same researcher sent this "Judith Alleman was widowed and married 2, James Edmondson, bc 1650, Essex County, and had a son, John Edmondson. This John named his oldest son, Philip Parr Edmondson. This Philip was born ca 1775-1790 in Essex and married a Martha _x." Here's what I received on that - "Virginia Will Records, Records From Charles City County. Order Book Nov 5, 1755. Philip Edmonsdon appointed guardian of William, Richard, and Mary, orphans of William Cole, deceased. Volume II. The Coles Family p 82-83 In 1756 the widow Elizabeth Cole married Philip Par Edmondson. Volume I. THe Edmondson Family p 666-667 Benjamin Edmondson (Benjamin) married Sarah-- made his will in 1773, which was proved in 1775 and names sons: Robert, WIlliam Sukey, Milley, Phillip. THe first of these, Robert, died issueless in 1888 leaving his property to his mother, "Aunt Peggy Edmondson" (at a later date, 1785 Peggy Roswer) and his brothers and sisters Philip, WIlliam, Susanna, and Milley. Will of William Edmondson 1774. Will of WilliamEdmondson of Essex County. Refers to my locing wife, her name not shown. Regers to my three brtoerh, Phill, Janes, Thomas and my sister Judith Mann. Life interest in all estate to wife to be divided at her death between brothers and sister." I was later told that this Philip married another Coles - Martha, after Elizabeth died. (no proof though) and from looking at Georgia Wills - the above Philip listed in Williams will - would be the Philip from Ogelthorpe, GA.(so again, no connection to mine) So, everything is just as muddy as before. Will have to probably wait til I get those records from Bedford County - and some other info I have sent for. More later, Beverly Casper, WY ===== Researching the following lines: BIALI/BIALE, BORDELON, BREWER, BRUNELLE, CARBO, DAVENPORT, DEVORE, DICKERSON, EDMONDSON, ETHERIDGE, LABORDE, LANDRY, LEEBURG, MASCARO, NORMAND/LENORMAND, PONS, ROBERTS, ROTJER, SHOEMAKE, TALTAVULL, TERRAL/TERRELL, WHATLEY ,WHITTINGTON, LOWE, HYATT. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
