My oldest EDM is Samuel Edmiston (b. about 1785 in either NC or VA, from conflicting census reports!), who married Jane GILSTON 1805 in Orange County, NC. They were members (1821-1843) of the Stony Creek Presbyterian Church (now in Alamance County, NC). They raised a family there until moving to northwest Missouri (Harrison County) in 1843. Joining the Stony Creek Church in NC with Samuel and Jane was a Sarah Edmiston. Is she Samuel's sister or mother? (A child named Sarah joined the church later.) From the naming patterns of their children, I wonder if Samuel's father is a John. The second possibility is a William. Or, I could be completely wrong about that. Samuel died in Harrison County, MO, in 1867. His descendants remained in Missouri, mostly moving southward to Vernon County, Missouri. I hope that one day I can find Samuel's parents and siblings. Also, I wonder what led them to move from NC to northeast Missouri in 1843. Thank you!! Charla Edmiston Manica
