Nancy, Thanks SO much for sending this info! I will add to my Philip "collection" - I am slowly sorting out All the Philip Edmondson's - hoping to get ALL documented so it won't be such a mess in the future for others! "EDMUND EDM & > JANE HOWERTON, WHO HAD > A SON NAMED PHILIP, WAS THE SON OF THE ABOVE JOHN & > CATHERINE. IF HE WAS, > HE WAS LEFT OUT OF HIS BROTHER WM'S EST. SETTLEMENT." My Philip could well be "left out" of a will - there seems to be a "history" of squabbles, where branches are permantly "cut-off". When I was in Louisiana in June, I went to the Library in Sabine Parish (Many, LA) and found old family photos that had been published in the 70's by a cousin we didn't know existed, and about my Philips's kids from the first marriage - John (Civil War Vet), his sister Elizabeth, and ANOTHER sister who was not on the 1850 census (born 1850)Catherine Edmondson Phillips Linder. My mother - in her late 70's had never heard even a whisper that there were kin in NW Louisiana! My grandfather(b. 1892) also had a "thing" about land -his property is still in the family - he specified that it never go out of the family - because of some past "incident". Could be why, after Tennessee, there never seem to be any Edmondson "kin" near them - maybe he was "disowned"! Just hope he didn't move and take his father's name and was born something other than Philip! Had that happen with my Alabama Whatley's - Our Willis, ran off, took his father's name, and no one could connect him to parents. Some old letters recently came to light (last month) that he was actually Elijah Whatley b. 1824! As to documenting Philip Edmondsons - the Philip Edmondson m. Susan(Susannah) Jennings in Mercer County, KY 1795- is now better known - have quite a bit on him, and he's NOT mine. (so if anyone needs to clear up this one - I now have a descendant line on him) Am still working on the others - I would really love to know more about the Ogelthorpe, GA Philip - also have seen a reference that he might have been Philemon - but mostly found listed as Phillip or Phil. If I ever get them all worked out - will post all to the list! I will be glad when my Bedford County documents get here to see if I can find any more missing pieces!
