Beverly, I have found out that there was a James, an Amos, and a William in Orangeburg at about the turn of the 19th century in Orangeburg, SC. As far as I can tell from the LDS Family Search site on the web, Lorelle Hendricks has researched the Orangeburg Edmondsons fairly thoroughly. She has about 82 submissions to the LDS site and perhaps many on this line? That date seems to fit with your Philip P. Edmondson's birth year of 1801.... Perhaps Lorelle can tell you for sure??
