Well, My first cousin told me that her mother, my aunt, told her that Grandma Guidy was the one who named all of her grandchildren. It seems to have been okay with them. Grandma Guidy was doted on and catered to by all of her children, so I've been told. I think that it was sort of an American tradition meant to mirror the royal tradition of the monarch's naming of the new children in the English royal family.
