Because of computer problems, I have not been on line in at least two months. I signed up to receive the Newsletter on line and asked for price. Can someone bring me up to date on the Edmondson Newsletter. I am interesteed in identifying my two Edmondson's: Amanda and Martha J)(supposedly sisters from family lore. They married Caleb T. Greer in Greene County, Ga and Morgan County, Ga. Please note new E-Mail address. Thanks
I have been off line for about a month. Please note new E-Mail address, Bea Greer O'Quin
I found discussion of DNA testing on Ancestry.com. I think you can do a search at www.rootsweb.com . Tonight I found Mills DNA Testing. I was given "information"--all that was promised. What that info says to me is as yet, unknown. ha Two of us paid about $164 each for the testing with DNAPrint genomics, Sarasota, Fla. Don Raney of Dallas Gen Soc, Dallas, Texas, says DNA testing by one-name groups is already revealing valuable and challenging results. Y-chromosome DNA testing is now available for $99 for one-name groups and future reductions will make DNA testing available as a mainstream activity for one-name research groups. (I did not attend this lecture.) I am a paying member of www.Ancestry.com and have access to all of its resources. I put my trust in Ancestry.com because the director of the genealogical section of the Allen County Public Library (Fort Wayne, Ind.)--the largest public library genealogical collection in the United States, and three times as large as the Dallas collection--Allen County's director is/was on the Ancestry advisory board. Allen Co. Pub Lib produces the PERSI. The on-line version is essential in every genealogist's research. Or that's the way we have it figured here in Dallas. The disks and books are out of date by the time you get them. Chan Edm At 10/16/2003 10/16/2003 -0500, you wrote: >Thanks for the info. Could you please tell me how to do the DNA. You probably married a Raines. However, Zora Duvall, b:1881-1882 married a Louis Raine(s). You think there might be some connection there? Louis Raine was from Sonora,KY, as was Zora Duvall. Just checking. Helen

However, my Lucy was never married. She was an educator in the Kentucky School system, the first female and black principal in the system. Her mother was Ireane Duvall. She had sisters Eva, Ellen, and Helen. To my knowledge, Helen was the only one who married. She married a Rogers. In the 1800 census, Ireane, known as Ann, was married to Peter, who was obviously dead, for she was listed as a widower. I don't know anything about him and can find no information. My grandmother, Nancy Elizabeth Duvall was first cousin to Lucy Duvall. How they were first cousins I have not been able to determine as of yet. I can find nothing to relate them, although my grandmother, before she died in 1982, had told me that the two were first cousins. If you find anything remotely related to this kinship I would really like to know. Thanks for your email.

I leave it to those who have done the DNA search to tell whether they have found it helpful or not, but I offer the following site as a source of information Family Tree DNA - we do genetic tests for your genealogy questions! A neighbor of mine has used the site's service and is in the process of deciding whether it was useful or not. Stan Harvill

Thanks for the info. Could you please tell me how to do the DNA. My son Richard tried to get the DNA done and they gave him no information.
