    2. Joyce Welch, This may or may not be of help. Joseph Edmondson, son of Caleb Edmondson Jr and wife Margaret had at least five children. The lived in Anderson Co., SC. I do not have a birth date for Joseph but do have information that he married twice. First to Elizabeth Austin and second to Elizabeth Ragsdale. Joseph and Elizabeth Ragsdale Edmondson died in Coweta Co., GA. I have info on this Edmondson family back to 1540 but, unfortunately, I don't have a list of the children of Joseph Edmondson by either of his wives. Sheila

    1. Edmondson & Variant Spellings Surname Y-DNA Project
    2. To All EDMONDSON & Variant Spellings Males: Have you reached a dead end and cannot find any documents on your ancestors? Not a clue to be found? Wondering if you are related to another family with the same surname? Science has given us the ultimate tool to solve these dilemmas - DNA Testing. This simple test of swabbing the inside of our cheek has the ability to help us find our "cousins" by comparing the results of as few as two males still carrying the name. Males are able to see if another male is a descendant from their direct paternal line. The 25-marker test yields the world's tightest parameters to the Most Recent Common Ancestor (MRCA). The 25-marker kit is $169 + tax as the initial test This test looks at the DNA in the Y-chromosome within males. This is one of the sex chromosomes and is responsible for maleness. All males have one in each cell and copies are passed down (virtually) unchanged from FATHER to SON each generation. Here is a link to the test kit to see what it looks like & instructions: http://www.familytreedna.com/kit.html Now, in order to find these links in our families, we have to have the volunteers to come forward and order a kit. Please help us prove scientifically how our other lines connect? We are hoping for other male volunteers to come forward and help make the discovery with the DNA testing which cannot be argued with. IT WILL TELL US THE ULTIMATE TRUTH. Please agree and sign up: http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/e/edmondson/ Click on the "Recruitment Page." You will be given a test kit number & password, your name will never be used....so your identity will not be revealed, unless you give your written permission. Thank you, Candace Campise EDMONDSON & Variant Sp. Surname Y-DNA Project Administrator

My dad has mentioned over the years that he has a cousin called Marlene who is doing a family tree. I'm certain that with this information that we are related. I've only just started the Edmondson part of the family tree as I was busy doing the Walker/Winstanley branch and also my mother Sheila's side as well. Not a lot of information has been given about the Edmondson side. I didn't even know the name of my great-grandmother. Any information would be greatly appreciated. 3. Hello Richard, The website will be up Monday. Perhaps I should have waited until then to post the information. The book covers the Edmonstones (and other spellings of the name) from 1063 to the mid 1700s when several different members of the family came to the American Colonies. Anyone interested in the family genealogy will find this book of great interest. It is also a history of Scotland and the Kings the Edmonstone Knights served. Anyone with this name is a descendant of Sir William Edmonstone of 1063. 3. Hello All, This is to let you know the Edmonstone book which covers the various spellings of the name Edmiston, Edmondson, Edmundson, etc., is finally published. The book covers the Scottish history as it relates to the Edmonstone family and is also a genealogy of the family members. I discovered information buried away in the Scottish archives and local histories not brought to light before. The Introduction is written by Lady Mary (Edmonstone) McGrigor, who is a Scottish author and historian. She is a member of the senior line of this family. Her brother, Sir Archibald Edmonstone, is a baron and still lives in Duntreath Castle (built in 1450), given to the family by James I when his (our) ancestor, William Edmonstone, married the Princess Mary Stewart. The book also covers the history from 1063 to the mid 1700s when our ancestors immigrated to the American Colonies. If you are interested in ordering a copy and for more information, go to my website at www.JoanWheelerLaGrone.com starting August 30th. Joan
