Kelly, I saw with interest your post on Joseph Edmonson who moved from Ontario to Michigan. However you did not give any dates in your post. I have an Edmonson also whomoved from Ontario to Michigan. Do you have any connection? William Allen Edmonson b 1825-8 Canada (US census records) d 14 Jul 1905 Kent co MI mar 15 Oct 1846 in Gore,Ontario to Harriet Elizabeth Lull b 9 Feb 1830 Windsor VT d 27 Feb 1923 Grand Rapids MI. 8 children; 1. William Lull Edmonoson b 27 Mar 1868 Lowell Kent MI d 31 Oct 1952 Riverside CA m 28 Feb 1890 Letitia Lindsay. This family is in the 1870 & 1880 UsC. The 1880 USC says the father of William Allen Edmonson was born in NS (nova scotia) and his mother was born in Penna (PA). 1851 census of Ontario lists Harriet and 2 children b. Upper Canada but William Allen is not in the 1851 census of Welleslely township, Waterloo, Ontario. I have traced Harriet Lulls family back in VT but have no informationon the parents of William Allen Edmonson or even his birth date. His only record is age stated in USC and it differs by 3 years. Is Joseph Edmonson related to this family. Notice the same spelling of Edmonson Richard Clark [email protected]
Members of this list have been very helpful in partially knocking down my brick wall and I am very grateful. I believe that and am working on documenting that my great grandfather Joseph EDMONDSON was the son of James EDMISON and Margaret (Matilda) OWENS, Other children were John, George, Sophia, Sarah, Thomas, Ellen, William, Mary, Matilda, Caroline, Alameda, and Emma. Joseph married Euphemia CAMERON and had a daughter Alice Belle EDMONDSON who married Clement HILL and a son Alexander Cameron EDMONDSON who married Lillie GATES. Joe was born in Ontario, Canada, moved to Michigan, then to Nebraska, and finally to Alberta, Canada. Euphemia returned to the US, to Wyoming to live with Alice and Clement HILL after Joe died. I am hoping to contact any descendants of Joe EDMONDSON, Alice Edmondson HILL, and Alexander EDMONDSON. Kelly Edmondson

Hello Carla, I would not be surprised if this family was connected to the Samuel of Scotland. My date was only a guess based on 20-25 years between generations. Of course they could be closer. Knowing how the Edmonstone/Edmiston family named their children, your descendants follow the pattern. The prominent names were John, James, William and Samuel.. The girls names were Mary, Margaret, Elizabeth and Ann among others. Let me know what you find. Hi Howard, John Edmonstone of Coldoch (son of James the 5th of Newton) was born about 1692, the 16th generation in Scotland. His descendants, William and Francis (sons of Samuel) were the 22nd generation. I do not know when or where they died in America. The hisory of this family simply states they died here. I would guess about the 1860's. Maybe this will help her. I am sure at least one had a son Samuel. Joan Howard Jones wrote: > Thanks, Joan.
