Hi Sheila, Thanks very much for your response to my inquiry. We will see where it might lead me. If you have any family from western Pa. let me know, I may be able to help you out. Keep in touch. Keith, error in my note. Caleb Edmondson married Esther Underhill. Caleb's brother, married Isabel Underhill, sister to Esther. Both of the Underhill girls were daughters of John Underhill and Frances Houseman/Hausman. Caleb and Esther moved to Union County, South Carolina.
Keith, the only info I have will lead you on a search that may or may not connect. William Edmondson, b about 1682 in Ireland, son of Samuel and Maria unknow Edmondson. William was not a Quaker but lived among Quakers. He died about 1736, Long Grove, Chester County, PA. William and Elizabeth unknown Edmondson, had at least seven children. Two girls, Elinor and Susanna, and sons, Samuel, Caleb, John, Thomas, and William. I have records on the children of Caleb and wife Isabel Underhill Edmondson. I have no record of a Levi...that family moved to Union County, SC. I will look and see if I have much on the Children of Samuel and Isabel Underhill Edmondson...don't think I have a Levi there. I have no record on the marriage of son, John, Thomas, or William Jr. Sheila
Hello there everyone, My great grandfather Levi Edmondson, born 2/26/1837 in Westmoreland Co. Ruffsdale, Pa. He married Leah Hershberger. I have had no luck in researching his ancestors. Can anyone out there give me any help? I have a picture of him with some of his family but can only identify a few of them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Keith Bockes
IHAVE CHANGED FROM SLOOOOW DAIL UP HIGH SPEED INTERNET. MY NEW E-MAIL ADDRESSIS: [email protected] Thanks Ed Edmondson
Congratulations Joan, I am interested in your book and would like to know a little more concerning its' content and possibly others receiving the List would be interested. My mother was and Edmondson born in North Georgia and descended from the Edmondsons of NC, VA. I was intrumental in getting one of her siblings to submit one of the DNA samples (38892) that is currently posted in the DNA project . I encourage other Edmondson males to submit their samples for analysis, maybe we will be able to determine some of our theories one day. Best wishes, Earl Cagle
Joan, what of John W. Edmondson born 28 Apr 1830 died 25 Nov 1917 in Carroll County, Maryland. He had a mill on Klees Mill Road.
Hello Joan, Thanks for the interesting information on Camilla. I found this chart of her ancestry on the web for anyone interested: http://www.notablekin.org/camillabowles.html There definitely seems to be a lull in Edmundson (and var.) research. Even the DNA project is slow on the uptake with only four participants to date. I was surprised to see in the results, however, that two Edmundson lines with roots in Cecil Co., MD are not related. I would have bet money we would have seen a connection. http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/e/edmondson/ Jane ----- Original Message ----- From: Joan La Grone To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, October 26, 2005 5:09 PM Subject: [EDM] Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall Hello List, Just a note to let you know I received a thank you note from Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall for sending her my book on the Edmonstone (Edmiston/Edmondson) family. Dear Dorothy, I dimly remember Dee's talking about the book you mention. It was at a time when Walter Woods was making some headway in sorting out the William Edmistons by comparing signatures. As I recall, we didn't figure out which William this was. The Robert presumably is your Robert, s/o William Sr., and the William could be his kid brother, my ancestor, or it might have been William Sr. (and of course it could be any of the other Williams as well, Incidentally, there's a a puzzle about William Sr. When he sold his father's land, the deed allegedly has him sign X, but his will is allegedly signed with his name. Did he learn to read and write in between? Al;so, he bequeathed books in his will, most unusual. Did he read them? Or was Agnes Holmes educated, a rarity among women of that day? The Lowry connection is interesting, of course. Plenty of Lowrys in Wash.Co., and the late Gordon Aronhime said somewhere or other that Mary Montgomery Edmiston, the widow of Lt. Robert Sr., married a Lowry after her Edmiston husband's untimely death at King's Mountain. I've never found any indication of that, but Aronhime did a lot of work on WCV families, especially their lands. Lt. Robert Sr. left his land to his nephew Robert, s/Col. William, and he was the father of John Lowry Glen Edmondson. Was he named after a stepuncle? The elder Robert's land would not come to the younger Robert until Mary was dead -- she was left a life interest therein. So, if she married Mr. Lowry, they may have seen a lot of the younger Robert. Just looked up my notes, and Mary supposedly m. David Lowry. Younger Robert did not choose to name anyone David. Anyway, shy was Lowry in John L.G.'s name?
