    1. Re: [EDM] Using DNA results in our EDM- research
    2. Carol, Not to steal your thunder, but thought I would put in two cents. As stated below I am the sponsor for my uncle (Edmondson Kit 38892 cited below). Only a direct male descendant of the Edmondson (and variant spellings) surname will be beneficial in tracing the DNA lineage. Note: When we sent in my uncle's test kit we also requested mtDNA analysis (mother's side). The mother passes her DNA to her son(s) but the son does not passes it on. By so doing I found that my grandmother did not have Native American ancestry as I thought (and wished) at the same time I learned my mother's DNA and what she passed to me. The Edmondson DNA project has been established with World Families Network (http://worldfamilies.net) and is tied to Family Tree DNA, probably best known of the DNA research facilites. I live in Marietta, Georgia which is also the home of Terry Barton one of the leaders in World Families Network. When I joined the Edmondson project on my uncle's behalf I was n! ot awar e that it would go through World Families Network. I can say without reservation that I am happy with the results and attention I have received. When Candy was well I could not ask for more attention and personal response than she gave. And to Joan LaGrone, I encourage you to find a male Edmondson in your line and submit a test kit right away. By the way Joan does your book give any information related to the family that found their way to the new land. Enough rambling. Best wishes to all and a Happy Thanksgiving, we have much to be thankful for, especially those that went before, Earl Cagle. P.S. I started the Cagle DNA project with Mr. Barton and will be inviting him to speak to the Gilmer County Genealogical Society in Ellijay, Ga. early next year. -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> > > Carol, > > If we have had a male family member submit his DNA testing for another family > line, but he also is of the Edmondson line, will they allow us to use the same > kit number to find out our Edmondson line? 3. Thanks, Earl. I would say the DNA testing was very valuable in your case. You will now be able to focus on the correct family and not waste a lot of time with lines that are not yours. I heard back from Candy who administers the Edmondson family DNA site. She has been ill and is going to arrange for someone else to keep the site updated. So maybe we will know more soon. 3. The testing does need to be done on a male family member, since they are tracking the Y chromosome. Your adopted family is fortunate to have a paper trail proving their lineage. Having one of the males join the Edmondson family DNA project would be a wonderful contribution to the genealogy cause. ----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> To: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, November 18, 2007 7:40 PM Subject: Re: [EDM] Using DNA results in our EDM- research Unfortuately I was adopted into the Edmondson clan, so there for I can not help out. 3. We got back the results of my brother's 37-marker DNA testing although they are not yet posted to the Edmondson Family Tree website. I am not sure how active that project is, as our emails go unanswered. There are DNA results posted on 11 Edmondson males but many of them are not identified and I haven't seen any changes there in some time. So that's kind of disappointing. The most useful thing we have learned is that our haplogroup is I1a. [That's a capital letter I, then one and a.] This tells us we are not related to the William Edmundson-Quaker line or the Robert Edmondson of Maryland line or the William Edmondson line from Talbot co MD. There are three other I1a families listed but not much identifying information. There is a small chance [10/12 match] we are related to the line of a Reuben Edmondson who lived in Martin Co North Carolina [~1799-1870]. We are very interested in connecting with any other Edm- families with haplogroup I1a, especially anyone who knows about this Reuben Edmondson. Here is the link to the Edmondson family DNA website http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/e/edmondson/<http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/e/edmondson/>. DNA testing would make a great Christmas present. According to the experts, the I1a haplogroup accounts for only 12% of all men of European descent and is found concentrated mostly in Scandinavia and the UK. This group descends from a man probably born in Scandinavia who came to England and Scotland as part of the Angle, Saxon, and Jute invasions of the 5th-6th centuries or more likely during the Viking invasions beginning in 800 AD. Those Vikings---they sure got around. Also, what is up with the Edmondson Family Association Bulletin? The website where they were posted wasn't there any longer last time I checked. Anyone know? I hate to see these resources disappear when there are still a lot of us struggling to complete our research. 1. [EDM] Edmunson's Buired in Richmond, IN.
    2. Hello All, I am working on the Hoover-Bulla Cemetery which is located in Richmond, Wayne Co., IN. This cemetery was started by the Andrew Hoover and William Bulla families in the Early 1800's. The first burial seems to be Andrew Bulla in 1832. This is a private cemetery and the requirement to buried their is to show relationship to either the Hoover or Bulla families. I plan on placing all of the information I find on a CD and making it available to anyone that is interested and searching these families. In an effort to find the relationship of these families I have run into a few that I can't identify. Hence this query for information on William B. Edmunson 1821-1895 so Eliza. (Neal) Edmunson) Susan H. Edmunson 1825-1865 wo William B. Edmunson m. 1848 Anna E. Edmunson 1853-1893 Allen W. Edmunson 1850-1892 Susan is the dau of Elijah and Susanna Hoover Wright (Susanna is the dau of Andrew and Elizabeth Waymire Hoover). Does anyone know if Anna and Allen are children of William and Susan? Thanks, Dave Sloan ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour
