Hi Orvan, Saw the index of your Family Tree Maker files on your 26 April message on the above subject to the EDMONDSON mail list. Down under the ninth of the Canada Edmondsons you have Mark Edmondson, b. 28 Nov 1838 nr. Toronto, married Charlie McCallum. Mark is part of a family which has been researched by Maggie Applegate of Beaverton, OR <MRSAPPLCOM@aol.com>. I think I have mentioned her to you before. I have tried to get her to send you all the work she has done on this family, but she doesn't seem interested in doing that. Anyway, I would like to get you to correct the given name of Mark's wife. It should be "Charlas." The following is from the online info of death records maintained by the British Columbia Archives: Name: Mrs. Charlas Edmondson Event date: 1918 7 3 (Yr/Mo/Day) Age: 79 Bender: Female Event Place: Chilliwack Reg. Hi! My guess is that this was/is Nancy WOOD, whose name I have seen on some queries/responses on the list. No, I was not trying to e-mail you personally, it was just everytime I hit reply, the e-mail would go through [I know because I got a copy of the mailer-demon message saying there was no such address. Didn't notice it the last time, but I'll double-check the address there with the ones you sent me. I've never found any of my EDM....in GA; but have had queries from some....so have some info in my paper files in Washington State. ....unless you count when my Dad was 14 and his brother was 13 and they ran away from home to Atlanta, GA and my grandfather had to fetch them back. There was no reason for them to run away...just teenage hi-jinks about 1930. Thanks for writing; I'm like a lot of folks and belong to several lists, but have never gotten any contact from any of my family; I have been able to help several others though. Nikki
Nikki, If you are trying to post to me personally, my e-mail address is wood@farpoint.1starnet.com or wood@farpointbbs.com. My server tells me either way I should get the message. However, if you are posting to the list only, try edmondson-l@rootsweb.com. I have the Edmondson line out of GA, I am unorganized and lacking in being uptodate posting to my gen. program but will help you if I can. jean -> In a message dated 4/26/00 11:09:03 AM Pacific Daylight Time, -> met2000@frii.com writes: -> << EDMONDSON-L@rootsweb.com >> -> When I try to e-mail to this list, I get a message that the following -> is an invalid address. Dear Orvan, Well, I'm relieved to hear about Lennard. I sent him a packet of stuff and it came back....so I rushed to judgment that he was..gone. As Mark Twain said...much exaggerated....etc., so glad to hear it. Yes, I've been in touch with Richard EDMONSON of Las Vegas, NV, I presume for about 64 years....he was about 14 when I was born to his big brother and my mother. I am in the process of resubscribing....so that I will start getting issues as soon as we return o Washington State in August. Thanks for taking on the task of keeping the EFAB going; what a job it must be to co-ordinate it all. I'll be happy to send along all the EDM...stuff I find in Brown and ADAMS County while I am here. I also have a slew of information about the Ross County EDMISTENS/EDMONDSONS of Buckskin or South Salem Presbyterian Church. Nikki

Dear Marci, Do you have dates? I'll be going to Georgetown to the courthouse and could do a few quick lookups for you while I'm there. Nikki

No AKLES or MORFORDS that early, but I'll keep my eyes open while I'm here. I am in Ohio for the months of April, May and June to help care for my mother-in-law, and am just two miles from Brown County [near Marathon in Clermont County] No chance the EVANS name came from Brown County, is there? The one in-law of John EDMISTEN I've not been able to find in the1850 census is Martha REED who married Lewis EVANS in Highland County before 1837 and resided in Lewis Township, Brown County, OH in 1840. The will of Susannah STILLIN REED is an absolute gem, in that she names all her children...and their spouses, and where they lived....and each kid had to go to some other kid's house to pick up their pots, pans, horses or whatever. Don't feel bad I've also been on this list for a couple of years and haven't found any connections in fact I haven't found any on any of the lists I'm on. But I keep reading. Dear Joan and others I haven't gone throug, my database and cleaned it up, but it is all handled in Family Tree Maker. I will give you the top four pages here and you can get an idea of all the groups of EDM that I keep track of. There is a lot of work to do yet just with existing information, and I am always happy to get more data. I guess that I am a data nut. At work I deal with my German company, and frequently have to translate things. So I have a database of goofy words, some 400, that are ick and tick words. The Germans think it is really funny, but I find it amusing. Everyone! While this is not my family, I've done a lot of research on it since my family appears in Brown County, OH and at least one researcher 30 years ago thought that perhaps John EDMISTEN may have had another marriage to Mary "Polly" REED [since proved not to be the case]. One learns that much research needs to be done to eliminate possibilities also. My petition to subscribe [again] to EFAB finally caught up with me in Ohio, with it's accompanying sample vol. XXIX #3, Apr thru June 1997. In it is a query fromBetty J. FISHER of Santa Barbara, CA. I am sending her a separate reply via USPS mail, but thought others might wonder about this family also. The late Lennard EDMISTEN of Orange, CA, a long-time subscriber to EFAB...and I carried on a ten year correspondence trying to reconcile his John EDMISTEN and mine...with no success. He was inpossession of his grandcestor's original will [ blue paper with watermark Kent Mills]. I will outline John EDMISTEN and Julia's descendants here...but for those interested, I can supply more details, including land transfers and other information. John EDMISTEN born 4 Jul 1806 in Adams County, OHIO, died 3 Nov 1853 Cedar Mills, Adams County, OH orphaned at about age ten and bound out to a CARLISLE family [not known if this is the family name, or from the nearby neighborhood of Carlisle]. John married in February, 1831 to Julia Ann McCOY born 1 Jul 1810 in PA died 30 Dec 1897 Lenora, Norton County, Kansas [father unknown; mother was Margaret, possibly ANSLEY and/or MOZIER]. Samuel Q. EDMONSON was my gtgtgrandfather; his wife was daughter of Joseph LUNBECK and Lydia REED, sister of Mary "Polly" REED, thus they were first cousins, a not unusual practice in the 1800's. I have more on the descendants of the WATSONS and of course of Samuel Q. EDMONSON, and am happy to share. Nikki NICKELL
Bill, I have some information I picked up a couple of years ago from a man who simply had old Edmundson family information which states that James' father was John Edmundson b. 1710 in Craven County, NC who married Mary Cullen. John was the son of Joseph Edmundson and Priselow . Joseph was the son of Thomas. That link appears to fit. It may be that his family had gotten this information from the Agee book that Nancy Wood refers to. He did say they had gotten it from an old book. Cissy
Orv, I haven't been too active in this lately but am back. I just finished another project. My question is, how are you keeping the Edmundson, Edmiston, Edmonston families and other variations seperated? We have the Edmundson/s from England, the Edmonstone's from Ireland, The Edmonston's/Edmistons from Ireland to PA and Virginia. All are probably originally from Scotland. Do you have this? If so, it would be very helpful to all of us. Thanks, Joan Orv Edmonson wrote: > > Dear Nancy and Bill > > I had guessed that Lt. James was the son of James, son of Joseph.
