Fleece 1826 and died about 1842. William Edmondson inherited an estate from Gen. Edward Stevens of Culpeper Co. VA. Polly (Stevens) Edmondson was a sister of Gen. Stevens. Jackson From: September 19, 1935 Winn Parish Enterprise M. E. Jackson Succumbs At His Home In Hargis Funeral Services Conducted Thursday at Mars Hill Church Mathew Edmondson Jackson, 88 years, 7 months, and 18 days of age succumbed at his home at Hargis Wednesday morning at 5:30 following an illness of more than a week. He had been in ill health for a number of years. Funeral services were conducted Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at Mars Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. John Kitchingham of Columbia officiating. Interment was in Mars Hill Cemetery with the Masonic Lodge No. 168 of Montgomery in charge. Masonic Lodges from Calvin, Winnfield, and Jackson were invited to participate in the ceremonies. Mr. Jackson was born in Madison Co., Tenn., in 1847. He came to Winn Parish and lived in Winnfield from 1861 to 1903 at which time he moved to Grant Parish where he lived until his death. He had been a member of the Baptist Church since a youth and also joined the Masonic Lodge in Winnfield 67 years ago. Mr. Jackson was married to Miss Mary Teddlie of Winnfield, December 21, 1871, who survives him. Six sons and one daughter, 18 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren also survive. They are Andrew Jackson of Franklin Parish; W. M. of Ebenezer; R. E., J. E., and Miss Kate Jackson all of Hargis; and E. C. Jackson of Atlanta. I was "told" we were not Cajun, but French direct from France (the Laborde's) and never anything about Spain (Carbo) so I am find all kinds of things my family didn't want to "share"! I recieved information from my grandfather Marvin Roy Edmonson that his brother Marshall Edmondson is still alive, but due to my grandfathers bad hearing and dislike for telephones I can no longer use that medium to get information. A Silas Edmonds m. Nancy Bagby on 22 Nov. 1821 in Wmson Co, TN (EFAB #84:78). He m. 1 Sept. 1839 Temperance C. Pomroy in Wmson Co. He m. Sally A. Mullin(s?) 1 Oct. 1848. M.2. produced Westley F., Elizabeth A., & Wm. Coleman. I came across an item in the series of books on Wiregrass GA, that contains information that may be relevant and is surely colorful. Is it possible that Temperance was a Meeks, who m1.either a Wesley or Wm. D. Cole and then a Pomroy? Vol. VII, pp 18/19: Wesley Cole & his brother, Wm. D. Cole did not marry sisters, as stated. They were mother & daughter, Elizabeth Meeks was b. to Temperance Meeks and her father was a Mr. Haliday (Holiday) a dancing master of Emanuel Co. (See "Cole Family Folder" at the Huxford Genealogical Library in Homerville for further information.) On 24 Dec. 1838, John Pomroy m. Nancy V. Mullins in Wmson Co, TN. Bondsman: Silas Edmondson. On 10 Nov. 1841, Frances Edmondson m. Josiah Mullin. Silas was living with Wm. Coleman in the 1860 Logan Co, KY census. According to Albert Edmondson, Wm. Coleman's grandson, Silas went back to GA & was buried in Butler. Albert also said that according to family lore, Silas was a Wash. Co. stonemason. Silas was said to have had a Bud & a John Edmondson, presumably by his last m. The 11 May 1856 Putnam Co, GA will of Wm. Dennis (WBk B:292/3) was witnessed by Zachariah & Silas Edmondson. This Zachariah was surely the son of Ths. & Patience Spires Edmondson of Columbia Co, GA. How does Silas fit in with them? So far as I know, Ths.'s father has not been determined.
