Hi Cissie & All, A nice lady from MS once loaned me a privately published book on the Mooring & Agee families. The author was of the opinion that Penelope was a Mooring (as was the MS researcher), but there was no real proof. I agree with this theory, but not necessarily the one the author had that Lt. James Edmondson was the son of John & Mary Cullen Edmondson, & gch of Joseph Edmondson (son of Ths/Essex). The problem with that is that there is another John Edmondson, from Craven Co, NC, whose mother is referred to as Priscilla, in a court record. This John EDM is the one m. to Mary Barrington. So, unless this John m.1. Mary Cullen & m.2. Mary Barrington, it wouldn't seem probable. There is still a lot of work to be done on this family. John Mooring I was in Southwark Par., Surry Co, VA by 1652, m. Jane & had Christopher (@1666-@1752). Christopher m. Mary Simmons, dau of Wm. Simmons, Jr. & wife, Elizabeth Mansell. Christopher's 1751 will named ch, including John Mooring II. John II m.1. Ann BURWELL & m.2. Elizabeth Lancaster, Quaker widow. John II had: John, Jr., Burwell & Wm. Mooring. John II had land in Beauford, Johnston, & Dobbs Co, NC (@1759). He had land grants in Dobbs Co on Nahunta Swamp, Appletree Swamp & Button Branch. This would appear to be in the Button's Range area, where Ths/Essex had land. One of the other researchers of this family has said that Penelope m.1. a Stanton. I don't have proof of either m., but I do know that I have read the name Penelope Stanton mentioned as the wife of Lt. James EDM. It's one of those things that keeps cropping up, but not (to my knowledge) proven. Maybe you could check with Stanton researchers to see if they are aware of a Mooring/Stanton m.? I hope Nancy Wood Reads this, for I am directing this to her. Hi Nancy, I have a question for you. I am a descendant of Jesse Wright Edmundson b. 1845 in Wayne Co., NC. He was the son of William Burwell Edmundson b. February 22, 1812 d. Dec. 2, 1867. Jesse W.'s mother was Julia Pipkin. She died in 1855. William Burwell is supposedly the son of Burwell Edmundson and Sallie Taylor. James Edmundson and Priscilla are said to be the parents of Burwell. We do believe this is so, but cannot seem to find the proof we need. I do know James is listed as having a son named Burrell/Burwell at LDS. I have some property records showing that Burwell is so spelled. Do you know anything about this connection? Question 2 - What documentation exists showing that Priscilla was a Mooring who first married a Stanton? I would really appreciate it if you could help me. Thanks, Cissy Edmundson Chambers c1ftaddic@aol.com

Doesn't anyone but me wonder how Someone with WFT estimated dates of 1619-1652 had children by a woman with WFT est dates of 1659-1688???? World Family Tree .... who was the person who provided the information? You can get lots better info on this line from Orvan Edmonson - who is on this list and who edits the Edmondson Family Association Bulletin (in print for a number of years). This is Orvans's line - and mine, but he knows a lot about all EDM* lines in the USA. John's dates are: abt 1635 to 9 Oct 1697, and he married Sarah Parker in 1663. He may have later married Sarah Loockerman. See my Worldconnect file at http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=olsonfke for these people. Much of what I have came from Orvan - and my notes are there but sort of messy. This is due for a re-upload soon. I decided to stop waiting "until I am done" because I now know I will never be done. :-) Be warned, though - I really need to redo my Worldconnect files. I have some really dead people listed as living in my olsoneme and olsonfke files. My cleaning of living people got carried overboard and I haven't redone it. I refuse to accept dates from programs like WFT which use unknown algorithms to estimate dates for people. I'd rather leave the date blank than accept a grossly inaccurate date. However ... by letting some programs clean the living from my files, I have introduced some even more amusing dates ..... you'll find John Edmondson's 2nd wife (who is Sarah Loockerman) listed as Living! Here are the children as I have them. --CHILDREN-- 1-Sarah EDMONDSON b 1664 2-John EDMONDSON b 1666 3-Grace EDMONDSON b 1668 4-James EDMONDSON b 1670 5-Henrietta Maria EDMONDSON b 1671/2 6-Martha EDMONDSON b 1673 7-William EDMONDSON b 1677 d 1702 .... my line 8-Elizabeth EDMONDSON b abt 1677 9-Thomas EDMONDSON b aft 1677 10-Samuel EDMONDSON b 1684 William is mine. He married Sarah Amelia Sharp on 25 Feb 1692. I have a 1677 birth date for him (1675 may be right ... I need to check again), and "abt 1677 for Elizabeth and aft 1677 for Thomas. All these are based on dates in a will, I think. William's great-grandson Peter is on the DAR Patriot list because he took the oath of allegiance, but this family was Quaker and did not fight that I can discover.
