He was born in Bucyrus, Ohio on July 3, 1921 to the late Charles, Sr. and Pearl (Brown) Edgington. He was a 1939 graduate of Mt. Zion High School and from 1943 to 1945 served in the Army Air Corps. After the service, Junior met Naomi Bardon. They were married on October 3, 1946 and she recently preceded him in death. Junior was raised in a rural area which allowed him the opportunity to help area farmers through the years. This was a passion he pursued until the early 1960s. Junior spent some time as a mechanic at Cobey's but much of his work career was with the Farm Bureau where he worked in the Machinery Dept. and also in sales before retiring in 1983. Charles and Naomi loved camping at various campgrounds in the area with Mohican being their favorite. They enjoyed many trips with Hawaii and the Virgin and Canary Islands being their favorites. When not on the go, he was often found working his vegetable garden or relaxing over a jigsaw or crossword puzzle and most recently, he was the "game assistant" at Carlisle Place. Junior was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church and served on their cemetery board. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 462 in Nevada; the Brailey Bunch Camping Club; and the Crawford County Antique Farm Machinery Association to which he donated many items for the Antique Farm Museum. He was known as the glue that held the Mt. Zion Alumni Association together by keeping track of where everyone was located and up to date on happenings. Charles is survived by two children, Roger (Linda) Edgington of Wooster, Ohio and Joyce (Mark) Rittenour of Bucyrus; five grandchildren, Judi (Jon) Bradham, Jill (Scott) Buklad, Jodi (Sean) Miguel, Barry Rittenour and Amanda (Paul) Pahl; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille Coulter and Elsie Edgington, both of Bucyrus and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Craig Rittenour and one great grandson, Brady Rittenour. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 13 at Wise Funeral Service where services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery where full Military Rites will be performed by both the American Legion Post 181 and the US Army Honor Guards. Memorial contributions may be given to Crawford County Relay For Life Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
