My mother remembers her well, I have a photograph of her as an old woman, I barely remember her, but she was LIVELY! She lived in Alabama, not sure what county, it was either Lamar, Pickens or Tuscaloosa, since most of the family was concentrated there. Is this who you are searching for? her father was Herbert Edgeworth, we have photographs of his grave. Do you have any family information to share? Thats about the extent of what I know. Let me know if you would like to see her photograph! sharondkb@knology.net

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/lRU.2ACEB/72.1 Message Board Post: Hi Ian, the Irish Edgeworths (yes i know the Edgware story) are descended from Roger or John Edgeworth (always in dispute) BUT Roger and John as well as numerous other Edgeworths appear to have come from the Denby, Holt area not London. Their mother is buried in the Chalfonts where both of them at one point were in the clergy there. Vicars of the Chalfonts. This is of course the Protestant term and Roger was alo a Canon at some point (Catholic term) but then due to the nature of the church at the time it has been said (though i have lost that text) that Roger swopped allegiance to suit the monarch of the time. So even if Edgware was also known as Edgeworth (despite differences in meaning) The Edgeworths who went to ireland did not originate there as Edward and Francis were meant to be the sons of Roger. Hope that is of use. Cheers Fran

Surnames: EDGEWORTH, EDGWORTH Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/lRU.2ACEB/72 Message Board Post: Could someone correct me if I am wrong. There seems to be 4 origins to the Edgeworths 1. Lancashire Village of Edgworth near Bolton 2. Gloucester Village of Edgeworth, 3. The Irish branch of the family who supposedly originate in Edgeware, Middlesex. 4. The London Edgeworths who could be descended from any of the above or have the same roots as 4. I am descended from the Gloucestershire branch who I were in recorded history focussed on Bibury. My own sub branch moving to Oddington, Blockley and other Gloucestershire villages before ending up in Yardley, Worcestershire, now part of Birmingham. I was quite keen to show that the Irish Edgeworth's originated in Gloucestershire, however to add into this debate I once saw (and lost) a timetable for a London stage coach from the 18th Century which had as it's destination 'Edgware also known as Edgeworth'. So perhaps the identification of the two names is correct despite having completely different meanings. If you are tracing Gloucestershire Edgeworths or trying to link up all the branches I would like to know and swap data.
