He was born in Castleblayney, County Monaghan, Ireland, but not sure of the date. I have anywhere from 1806-1816. He did marry a woman in India by the name of Annabella Macnamara. They had 2 daughters and 2 sons in India, then went to Quebec where they had 2 more sons, then on to Dunnville, Ontario, where they had another daughter. I just visited Dunnville this past summer. Let's compare notes. I'm sure I could assist you and hopefully you could help me out too. My email is lindakeeler@msn.com. I just noticed that your name is Thomas Eccles. Are you my cousin Tom? Daniel James senior died around 1910. Daniel James II married Phoebe Louise Buck of Dunnville. I do have some pictures if this is the same family. I could never find Anna's maiden name. James is thought to have married twice, with his second wife being Eliza Cullen/Cullin. I have been working with cousins in New Jersey and Warrenpoint, Northern Ireland. We believe there is a connection to this James being the same James who is a son of John Eccles married to Eleanor/Elinor Doran of Arran Quay, (Dublin). So, I think you are all on the right trail. His birth certificate states he was born in Louisiana and that all I have to go on, except for the fact that he moved to California in the late 60's and married my mother Ruth. My father would be in his late 80's currently, so I don't think that he is the same James Eccles you are searching for. My father was also a Merchant Marine. He married Rose Bryant in the 1940s, had two children, Virginia and my father Martyn, and was living very happily with Rosie in Kent until he sadly passed away last month. Isabel emigrated to South Africa, Johannesburg I believe. I know very little about her, but I think she married and had children and passed some years ago. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: ecclesiii Surnames: Eccles, Shaw Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.eccles/279/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am able to positively trace my Eccles family back to the Ballymacnab area, County Armagh to a James Eccles (~1800-1856) and his wife, Elizabeth (1806-1847) (nee Shaw). We also believe that his parents were also a James Eccles living in County Armagh (not sure if they migrated there or were born there, etc.). We are trying to find the line or information that positively connects this family back to the original Eccles family (Gilbert Eccles line). The family were mill operators that eventually migrated out to County Monaghan (Carrickmacross) in the 1830's-40's. Gilbert's line as we know, derived from Scotland in the 1600's. Any information that anyone has is appreciated on the Eccles or Shaw line. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Her Father was named Thomas, b1714, baptised to Seth Eccles and Ann Gregson on 12 Sep 1714 in St. Wilfred, Ribchester. Thomas was a Tanner and married an Ann, born about 1711? He was buried in St. Wilfred on 7 July 1777. They had at least seven children: Alice, abt 1753, Ann, abt 1754, Mary, abt 1756, Seth, abt 1759, Edmund, abt 1761, Elizabeth, abt 1764, and Thomas, abt 1766, all in Ribchester. There also living with an Ann Eccles born in 1727. It's possible this is his wife and the other (b1711) is his sister? The returns don't say. Note the children named Seth and Edmund!
