Need some help solving an EATON/HEATON surname puzzle. Looking for ancestors of ISAAC HEATON married in 1760 to Hannah Bowen, daughter of Henry Bowen Sr., and wife name Moore. He lived in Jefferson Co., WV. My ggggrandfather REESE HEATON, b. 2-7-1783 moved to Jefferson, Green Co., PA in 1787 where he was married 9-4-1811 to Sarah Dell Weaver. In 1814 his family moved to Warren, Trumbull Co., Ohio and in 1836 moved to Princeton, Bureau Co., IL. Reese's brothers Dan and James remained in Trumbull Co., Ohio. Daniel HEATON changed his name as an adult to Daniel EATON while living in Trumbull Co., OH. In the book History of the Western Reserve, it states that Reese, Daniel, and James were descendants of Theophilus EATON, governor of New Haven, CT. I have lots of biographical information on Theophilus but haven't found the resources to trace his descendants. But there is a conflict of information.....A family history without quoted sources states that Reese was the ggggrandson of Nathaniel HEATON, Sr., of Boston, MA, who dies in 1664 and his wife Elizabeth EATON HEATON. The information between Nathaniel and the Isaac mentioned above is very sketchy. I'M CONFUSED...ANY HELP OR DIRECTION WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS.
